  1. I've a 1988 starlet EP70 that unfortunately succumbed to some rust. As is usual in this sort of thing, the more you look the more rust you find. I'm not too concerned about the smallish holes on the bodywork but there is an awkward bit underneath that will need repairing. The issue is that I don't know enough about welding to know how big a job this will be. I can't see any obvious place to cut it out. The real question is does anyone have any thoughts on the scale of cost to repair this? Although I'm fond of the car (been in my wife's family since new) I'm not sure if the repair costs j
  2. My Ep70 failed the mot recently with a brake imbalance between left and right rear drums. The handbrake was perfect (1% variance) but the service brake was way out. Changed wheel cylinders but problem still there. So I got a pressure test done and there is less pressure going to the problem wheel. Suspecting it’s the brake bias/proportioning valve. Struggling to to find a replacement - if anyone knows where I can get one please shout up! Or anyone know what the model number of it is and if any other cars use the same part? The alternative was to fit an aftermarket adjustable
  3. Thanks, so P8 and P9 are direct replacements? For both master cylinder and booster? Thanks
  4. I'm having some bother with my brakes. When you press the pedal it brakes ok, but then over time the pedal sinks to the floor. I think it's the master cylinder. But i suppose it could also be the booster. I'm having trouble finding replacements for these. Does anyone know if any of the later models would fit? Or where I could find some? It's a 1988 EP70L 1.0. No ABS. Thanks
  5. Thanks, the springs will hopefully do for the meantime then see what I need later on. Want to keep a fair bit of travel in them for rough ground. No good with a track setup on a gravel lane! Sprayed some mini wheels;
  6. Finally figured out how to post the pic properly on my phone!
  7. Some braided brake hoses fitted. https://www.dropbox.com/s/1s4atli2arkbt2u/IMG_3916.JPG?raw=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/1s4atli2arkbt2u/IMG_3916.JPG?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/x8k1t3h9138vpdk/2015-06-16%2019.19.53.jpg?raw=1
  8. Thanks. I did originally connect it to the negative terminal, but the response was very slow. I suspect it may be an issue with the Tacho. Anyone else experienced a slow response from an aftermarket Tacho and found s way to improve it? And don't say buy a better Tacho! 😀
  9. Trying to fit an aftermarket Tacho on an EP70. Can anyone tell me where the best place is to take the engine speed signal from? Thanks, Jamie
  10. Went shopping and got some Tein spring delivered.
  11. Hi All, I've recently inherited a 1000cc EP70 XL 4speed that I'm planning to use for Lane/Targa Rallying. Its quite tidy as its been in a garage for the last 15 years and was undersealed before it went in, only got 48,000 miles on it. A lot of interesting stuff on here - I was crazy jelous of Takumi's EP70 project! Plans are to keep it within the MSA blue book reg's so limited to what I can do. So far the plans are: Get it running! (not been moved for about 15 years), so far needs full service, Uprate brakes - probably just to Ep82 on front, and maybe convert rears to discs (although
