Alamo ASC 0.6mm Headgasket

Recommended Posts

Will be using Wossner Pistons with a -6cc dish. Believed a 0.6mm gasket would keep it around stock comp ratio

Nowhere near if I remember correctly.

It's still lower than standard compression.

I'm also looking for a thinner headgasket for my forged gt

Currently run 1.2 Athena gasket at 1.4 bar of boost

What do people recommend for this? In English preferably

Dished / lowered CR pistons in there?

Id recommend leaving her well alone on less you've a need to change.

Chucking all the coolant into the overflow when on track

That's a reason to change gasket no doubt.

But not a reason to change thickness really.

Any idea why your having the issues?

I'd like to go standalone so thought at the same time sort the head out with a refresh and some td valve springs, up the compression a little and raise the rev limit slightly

Not sure really I only use the car on track now but the last day I done this year by the end it was just pressuring up and throwing the coolant out, I changed the rad cap to 1.3bar but didn't do anything, it's only under hard boost for periods of time (track)

Are you running a full or half sizes radiator?

My own experience is that cooling a 4e on track isn't as easy as you might think.

Fan flat out, low temp thermo, high pressure cap all do nothing to curb the temps. 2mins flat and they are through the roof and not coming back down. That's like a lap and a half or not even.

Big radiator and some decent airflow at it

I run a triple core half rad, low temp thermo, high pressure cap, and fan on constant and haven't seen over 90??

I need to sort an oil cooler for next year as oil temps are the problem

I don't know pal. I don't see much more than 90 now but I'm running plenty of radiator.

Surprised you don't see more than 90 tbh, but stranger things have happened.

What caused the headgasket blow? Usually it's high temps that does them in. But If not it could be det which would be bad bad news with expensive parts in the block

hopefully you get her sorted.

Not sure we will find out when it's off I suppose, has ran brilliant since it was mapped around April time

Do you run an oil cooler Phil? I'm not sure what size to go for

No oil cooler no, temps all seem good.

What pistons are you running? Will really determine your best move with hg
