The new Yaris

Whilst it's nice to see Toyota get back into making Hot hatches, I think they'll have to try quite a bit, as appear to have been out of the Hot Hatch game too long and not in the concious view of the average performance oriented owner, as with previous cars like Supra, Celica, MR2, GT & Glanza, to name but a few.

Somehow I'd like to think this will be an exciting addition to the current Currys PC World Ecobox Domestic appliance line up from Toyota, and tempt money out of my wallet, so to speak, but unfortunately suspect like the GT86 is just lacking soul/ that catch/ that edge needed to part with my hard earned, and feel like just another dull trim level lost in a sea of boredom that is the supermarket carpark.

As long as it drives well and they allow warrenty on tuned cars like most the other hot hatches it should sell ok.

Trd, fensport and the likes will have aftermarket support pretty quickly and maybe varis will hop on board like they did with the gt86 and make a nice kit for it

I would have bought a GT86 if they hadnt forgotten to fit the turbo to them and didn't use Halfords to source their alloys.

I'd easy buy a GT86 if i had that sort of money, everyone putting a downer on it for having 200hp don't understand the purpose of the car tbf, If you want go fast in a straight line budget sport cars is the wrong category for you.

Give it 10 years when people rolling round in new cars saying they don't make em like they used to back in 2015/16/17. The irony lol.

Tbf in another 10-15 years we wont be driving cars unless its on a track. What with the tesla and its crash detection system and self drive features already showing the world what can be done it wont be long until the decide its safer than having humans driving. At that point whats the point it having sporty or fun cars?

We'll still be driving cars in 10 years time ;)

Yes they'll be different with the features and with more electric vehicles coming to the market, but the ICE will still be around for a little while yet, at least 15 years I expect. I'm still designing engines that are coming out in 5 years time

one thing cars won't be able to do is make conscious decisions. I think unless AI really progresses humans will always have control. say you were heading towards a car, only other option is to swerve and hit a crowd of pedestrians.
