Iwan-g-g
Hello, My headgasket on my 98 glanza went about a month ago and I've just finished putting it all back together this weekend with genuine parts from Toyota, filled it up with fresh oil and fired her up, all sounded good. Revved it after it warmed up a little and left my foot on the pedal on about 3k revs then once I let go there was a weird gurgling or bubbling noise in the engine, sounded from the rocker cover or near the cam gears, I switched it off straight away and left it a minute then fired her up again and the noise was gone, I did the same, reved her up a little and the noise came back, just a loudish gurgle noise. Switched it off and back on and the noise hasn't come back but I'm worrying over it now. The oil levels are fine. Does anyone have any idea what it could be ?
Ollieh17
Did you bleed the radiator?
Iwan-g-g
I left the radiator cap open which is what I usually did to bleed it, but if it didn't bleed properly do you think it could be the cause ? Because the noise definitely seemed to come from the engine, cambelt side, unless the noise is at the water pump?
Ollieh17
Could be a airlock
daniel_g
Put the heaters on full chat warm and hold it at about 3k rpm using the throttle cable with your hand, rad cap off, and squeeze the top rad hose to try get any air out.Road test, let it cool down and top up coolant if required.Dont scald yourself. 5T4R7ET N/A
Dont forget that the throttle body has coolant lines which will allow the wax stat to operate. Bleed all air out of system and drive it and see how you get on.
Iwan-g-g
Thank you, I'll try and bleed it again properly tonight and see if it sounds better
