If you lower your target of 250bhp then you can save yourself a fair bit of money around 230bhp is perfect on the td04 and you will be maxing out your injectors around there so that's another expense to bare in mind plus engines get a bit fragile around 230-240

I have had a TD04 on my Glanza before. I have a few kicking around as I have two Scoobys.

The Glanza is going to be my track car (to save STI from getting smahshed up lol) so I am looking for a fast responcive turbo.

I will be building a forge engine in due course as I have just finished forge builds on the scoobys the pockets took a hit but I will be doing the Glanza within a few months. Just forked out on AD08Rs whiteline roll bars bcs and polybushes.

And from what I'm reading about this GT20 it would be ideal. BUT what spec Gt20's do you guys use ? It seems like it's a diesel turbo what what I'm gathering ?

I found a gt2052 but doesn't look like the one guys are running on here ?

seriously, check out the tf035, a few members on here seem to love them response wise and they seem to make just under what td04l will make power wise....so overall a really nice turbo for modest power goals and very cheap....just do some research into the tf035 before you invest in the gt20 (yes, its probably a very good turbo, but expensive)

also with the tf035 you can mess about with different exhaust housings to improve power or spool

GT25R?

That page seems to suggest around 240hp which is as near as damnit what you're looking for.

I have gone TF035 on mine, which will give me about 200hp I'm hoping. Did 170 on 7psi of boost and standard management, so with more boost and a proper map I can't see it being too difficult to get the figure I'd like.

My car is a track car, it is never used on the road, and even at 160hp there wasn't much on track that came past.

GT25 is the next step depending on budget. Hybrid GT25 would touch 300 with good response I recon.

There's seems to be a few GT20's in about in different trims but it's just finding someone that knows turbos well enough what would be best suited to our engines. A/r sizing etc.

Thanks for the info guys I will look at the posts/links and try make a decision.

Just fancied something different aswell.

you have two choice 52 and 56. the TF is a decent substitute. will spool 200rpms quicker. but the GT20(56) will give you more power. given the cost and ease of replacement..the TF is a good choice I think. TF looses efficiency after 1.2bar or so. if you get tired of TF..you can always move up the ladder to td04 or VF on the same manifold/downpipe. Gt20 has same T25 inlet flange. so its possible to go up to gt25/gt28 on gt20 manifold (lots of power potential),but you will need a new downpipe.

hope this info helps.

This is a statement I will never understand.

Keep things simple and use the car, a car with half the horsepower that actually sees the track, is still 100% faster than one that sits in a shed being built to be different.

so true, the Subaru flanges give you nearly 15/20 stock turbos to choose from depending on your needs

i agree, keep it simple and cost within reason

I also run TF035 and the response is fantastic, Im running 1.0 bar of boost on a jam ECU not had her dyno'd yet but probs around 200BHP, I have a Wepr TD04 ramhorn kit coming with screamer TF035 is same flange as TD04 so going to pop that on and enjoy it! You want to ask colin on this forum he never stops going on about Tf035's he is your man to ask about it!

Thanks for the info!

That's is the valid point i am getting at. With a t4 flange I can go from gt20-25-28 at a later date.

I have had a Glanza with a td04 with a WEPR top mounted ex gate and tbh from what I remember the lag was a lot less than 3500rpm.

I just wanted to try a gt20 setup and probably move up to a GT2864 at a later date.

It's a shame Borge warner don't do an EFR small enough for our engines :)
