Tuning Starlet TD04

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I recently brought a Starlet GT which is nearly ready now.

It has a TD04 kit, FMIC and a full decat system.

I was wondering what are the options to tune the car so it is fueling and running correctly.

I know there's a few different ECU's but is there a specialist to get the car tuned without changing the ECU?

You can also run a fuel cut defender and adjustable fuel pressure regulator with the standard ecu.

Despite what people say if they're set up properly there's nothing wrong with it.

Obviously something mappable is better, just depends on budget

On a stock engine uprated injectors are a good way to waste money. Speak to a tuner and get the ecu and fpr at the same time you get it set up on the rolling road imo can't go wrong with the emb proven over and over to make great figures and you never here of genuine's breaking buy them both new so warranty is covered. Can't go wrong. Running a fcd is too risky unless you have a wideband gauge. Gauge's are very important, I'd defo go for a map asap

Not true. Especially pushing td04 to the limits of the engine. Yes stock will do but better to have slightly oversized injectors

You won't gain anything from bigger injectors you can't push the td04 limit on the stock engine seen it forever on here. People run the best figures at 1 bar. I 'd buy a wideband over injectors every time

lol decent injectors are far from a waste of money my car made 218 on the standard injectors and the tuner didn't want to push on with them got 440cc and a fpr and went back and with a fresh tune made 248 yeah the injectors themselves didn't make an extra 30hp but it gives you a bit more tune ability and your mapper a bit more to work with you spend all that money tdo4 ing your car don't see why you wouldn't stick a set in sure they aren't even expensive

I've decided to go for the emange blue ecu.

So am I right in thinking the only additional things i need is:

Wideband afr gauge

Fuel cut defender - do i need this?

Fuel pressure regulator

And maybe bigger injectors

Emb and a decent fpr that's all you really need to make your power goal
