Andrew Miller
The car will idle around 1500rpm sometimes up to 2000rpm all the time. Occasionally it will drop back to normal then back up to 1500 again. Ive replaced the idle control valve, coolant temp sensor and smoke tested it to no avail. Any ideas? craigyboi
Does it drop if you give the accelerator a little blip ? You tried cleaning the little butterfly thing in the inlet manifold? Sometimes stick open a little.
Andrew Miller
Reving it even lightly makes zero diffetence unfortunately
federalman
I'd clean the butterfly valve (next on my to do list) failing that give the idle control valve a clean. I did mine and it settled back down though I think i damaged the thin metal gasket type bit inside as mine started playing up again. I tend t o just adjust the idle screw and it settles back down again, though I tend to like mine to idle between 1000-1200,
