5.4 V8 would kill me lol! and probably not even handle well. Im pretty sold on a dc2 atm

dc2, good choice mate, i'm assuming your looking for a drivers car that's engaging and fun to drive. Comfort is second priority however still needs to be comfortable enough for a 3000 odd mile trip..

You considered a second gen Toyota MR2? N/As are great driving cars, will give 32+ mpg on fuel. If you fancy a baby Ferrari, then you could have the Turbo!

Might be worth looking at some classics/modern classics too, easiest of cars to prepare for track. Got a 85 Saab 900 2 door here, can come with turbo engine all going cheap if your interested bud!

Dont like MR2. Im definitely looking for a drivers car, not really looking for something really comfortable. Think im still young enough to get by. Just my current car is a step too far, stripped out, fixed buckets noisey tyres etc

How comes you don't like the MR2? They're under rated in my opinion.

haha yeah will definitely be a bit too much for a 3000 mile trip. Let us all know what you decide to go with in the end pal.

Looks wise really, not great performers pretty unpractical and easily crashed !

The 2.0 N/A's are 170bhp with 180 Nm of torque which capable of 0-60mph in 7.7 seconds. The Turbos were 240bhp with 304 Nm of torque! Internet says they do 0-60 in 5.5 seconds!

Great performance I'd say. I was surprised with my mates MR2 Turbo on practicality. Yes its a 2 seater, but theres reasonable amount of storage compartments inside, and the rear boot is pretty large for what it is.

however your right about the 'easily crashed' bit haha... but it is a drivers car ;)

2.0 N/A may have been 170 bhp out the factory, but certainly at now and certainly isn't at the wheel.

I got a mate with the turbo variant, which is quick car, had it about a week until he crashed it into the A40 central reseveration, not going fast, just water planed. Fair play to him, restored it and you'd never know.

Not sure if I'd get one of those lol though. An S2K on the other hand. But not in stock trim, too slow.

You'd be surprised mate. Well looked after Toyota engines are good at maintaining their factory bhp but I think for the prices they're going at right now, they're alot of car for the money.

Yes, mr2's are notorious for over steer and being crashed. After all it's a mid engined car, and many excited inexperienced drivers would be caught out without getting a feel for the car first. If as many young inexperienced drivers drove Ferraris, there would be as many crashes. Also, from gen 3 (1994 onward I think), there was some major revisions made to handling and suspension set up which proved to be effective.

s2000 is also a good shout, I've always had a sweet spot for those!

The kid had an N/A previously and I wouldn't call him a boy racer by any stretch of the imagination. I didn't even know he was into cars till years later. But I guess I would never know.

yeah mate I get ya. You wouldn't even need to be a boy racer... You could easily spin out by going too slowly around a bend and then giving it a surge of too much acceleration.

My mate tells me they're great cars to drive once you've got the feel for them anyway. Otherwise your right, they can easily be crashed lol

My Dad has got a MX5 with a Garrett turbo, ahem, still only 220 bhp, about as quick as a Civic Type R to be honest.

Obviously more fun.

Nah not slow, but for the money, you can get a lot faster cars.

Personal favourite would be Mazda RX7

I bet that mx5 is alot fun for a little car!

Rx7's demand even higher premiums then S2000s! But great cars never the less.

Might be worth looking for a Skyline GTST! Scooby or Evos are also worth thinking about.

Wildcard - Pulsar GTIR

Alot more to be had from a car than 'fast'. The charade has the potential to be extremely fast. But isn't the be all and end all. End of the day I want something good and fun on track. Track is as simple as more power equalling more fun/faster. I wish I realised this before going wild on power modifications.

If be confident a dc2 could take a beating all day. Rx7, love them, but would never have that optimism.

This quote function is killing me on the mobile... I can't delete them.

A DC2 sits at 4,500rpm at 70ish... At 100 you will be in VTEC. They're not great on a cruise, loud and the engine feels permanently strained mate.

My mates Evo was horrendous, 5k at 70 no word of a lie.

And it was meant to be a GSR, not the short ratio RS. It was an import and clearly was sticker bombed in Japan. We suspect the final drive may have been swapped out.

GT-Four's are going up. Would love an RC.

Stunning  Daihatsu Mira TRXX Avanzato R   for sale. Appreciate this is not solving your problem lol
