StarletJam
Hi all, I am going to be doing an oil and filter change soon. Does anyone know what sort of washer is currently on my sump plug as shown below. The washer rim portudes around the sump plug. The new copper washer I am going to use is different. I also have the collapsible copper kind too - preference on which is best when I renew? Thanks
T-dog
If you go to your Toyota dealer they are like £1 or come free with a Toyota gen oil filter . They are black fibre washers . Toby

T-dog
No a cooper would be fine , but I always go gen parts as I’m weird like that lol
Starlet__SR
The genuine washer is a fibre coated aluminium washer. They work fine.
StarletJam
Just an update, I finally got round to replacing oil and filter and when I removed the old sump plug this is what I found...bodge job or what. I'm thinking whoever did this threaded the threads in the sump pan which caused the plug to not screw in tightly. By adding this make-shift washer allowed the plug to screw in by not catching the threaded thread. Luckily the new plug had threads all the way to the end so I had no issue ensuring it was tightened properly.
