Well that's not on! How's changing the cluch going to affect warranty on an engine?

I don't know mate as I know the clutch is faulty or the relase bearing so thats all thats going to be changed or inspected its not like am taking it to a cow boy its going to another starlet specialist as these guys are busy as his saying he wants me to leave my car there for a week as I can't do that as I use it daily somtyms and these guys want the car for a week..... Or he told me to bring it down on the 28 of August for a day which am not going

To wait that long for .... As I wanna see the box being taken off my self and I wanna have a look at the clutch and a new release bearing being fitted so I knw they 100% changed it cuz am fed up

Sounds to me like they are just making excuses and don't want nobody finding out its their fault so that's why they don't want nobody looking at it

If that's how they treat customers i'll rather spend my cash elsewhere

Thats not good to hear.

Most engine builders will void a warantee if you mess with the engine or get somone else to work on it or map it etc.

But if its just the clutch that needs changing i dont see why this will voide your warantee. I can do what i want to my car as long as i dont mess with the engine and my engine builder is cool with that.

Warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on these days. What happens when your tyres wear out, any garage aloud to change them, or will that void the warranty too? It's only a clutch change, not like you stripping it and putting a different head gasket or something on. I can understand if you strip the engine It would be void, but not for changing the clutch. Fuck me, I go through 2 paddle clutches a year, would that mean each time I'd have to spend 4 hours labour charge at there garage just to keep warranty? Too much Money money money!!!!

Agreed with jamie on that one. Warrenty isnt worth a shiz now. Anything considered to be a "wearable item" isnt covered. Unfortunately clutches do come under this catagory. Its the same as waivers, sign one of them and you may aswel let them bum you. Dry. With no lube.

Would like to hear this confirmed by TD and more of their side of the story.

Not taking side but there are 2 to every story and would have expected Mike to be more forthcoming in defending the name.

No excuses are being made by us, words are also being twisted in favour of making a point of view seem more valid.

Redline has advised he could not leave the car with us and that he would like to come down on a Monday to have it stripped and checked, the earliest Monday we have free is now the 26th August.

After a conversation yesterday, Redline was going to see about the possibility of letting us hold onto the car for a week or so, as a Monday isn't viable for a long period of time. He was also going to phone and let me know whether this was possible, not add fire to the flames on the internet, but hey ho.

We have not once said we wouldn't assist, the clutch isn't made by us remember, if there is a faulty item, then it goes back to the manufacturer, its a no brainer. From seeing and using the car it is our opinion that there isn't a fault with the clutch in this case.

Just for clarity, Redline, if you would like to sort out booking the car in then please give me a phone on 01925 822 266. We're here 7 days a week so i'm sure you'll be able to catch me easily enough.

Cheers

You said leave the car there for a week which obviously I don't want to do as it don't take long to do a release bearing as u said u guys are so busy and I use the car as a daily...... Like u said the only monday u can take the car in is the 28th of August so then I said I'll get the work done from some one else then u said that will void my warrenty on the engine which is abit shocking

As we're only touching the gear box

i understand your concern but i dont think you are giving TD a change to sort it. There good lads down at TD and do some good work.

At the end of the day, some time mistakes happen and we have to expect that in the modding world.

Hope for both sides things can get sorted

StuDoc 72, not true, although we are offering to inspect for the customer instead of I would presume incurred cost from a third party.

Cheers

Cheers Mike I'd have been blown away if that was infact the case. So if that is not true then what is.

Seems like someone is witholding details.

I'm not getting anymore involved as it seems that not all the facts are on the table here and It's not my place to slag off a reputable workshop on the basis of something that isn't true.

Mike u did say to me that if I take the car else were that the warrenty would be void

You also said to me that the issue with the car is the input shaft bearing 100% and that nick is always right but the symtoms are

Telling me somthing else, Tim checked it and he goes release bearing or clutch kevin checked it and said the same thing, all I want is for

My car to be sorted and if you want to do the work on it I wanna be there myself to inspect it

Link to post

You never once said to me yh mate could be the realease iswell as you know u would have to

Do the work under warrenty all u stuck by was saying its the input shaft bearing.....

So that makes me think u guys are not

Willing to do the work under warrenty so I am not

Leaving the car there unless I am

There myself now

Link to post

As far as I know u guys might try and cover your own back once you got the car and say its the input shaft bearing, when there is a few people who had realease bearing issues with the spec

Clutchs to be honest I've lost all my faith in you guys so like i said if u want to inspect the clutch and change the clutch I wanna be there

Link to post

If you guys said to me to begin with it could be a possibility that it is the release bearing i

Would have left the car with u, but it seems

Like u were stuck on the idea that it was the input shaft bearing and nothing else

Guys you got to remember that when i gave the car to them there was no noise from the box or

Clutch or anything soon as I went to pik the car there was a noise there So it's obviously means somthing went wrong when they installed the clutch or it's a duff realease bearing

i havent read a thing here that needs to be on a public forum.

from what ive read and what redline has said, he doesnt have a great relationship with TD and is ruining whatever relationship he has by moaning and complaining about every attempt they make to sort the issue for him.

if you have lost all your faith in him redline then continue moaning and encourage TD to live up to the rep you seem to wnat to give them.

otherwise, accept that its a VERY minor issue that is unlikely to be TDs fault (clutch failure is a component issue) and allow them to sort it.

Every time Mike has came back with a response it has made perfect sense to me.

only the TD responses filtered by your keyboard seem to be garbled.

It's easy to make comments like this when you haven't paid a penny, come back when you've paid £3500

So td are sorting it?

Number one when u paid all that money I have u expect to go pik up the car running fine that noise has been there since day one

Number 2 I goes am willing to take it to someone else but I was told if I do so my warrenty is void Just by another specialist taking the box off

Number 3 they never once said yh it could have been a duff release bearing all they keep saying

Is its the input shaft bearing So it dont seem like its on them to do the work under warrenty as I could understand if I done some miles on it and I was ragging it and it went faulty, as soon as I piked it up from them the noise was there and at that point I've not even done 0 miles

On the engine myself

4 I've taken the car to 2 starlet specialist including

Tim @ tb developments who highly regarded and they both said could be a faulty clutch or

Release bearing
