Hi All,

I've recently inherited a 1000cc EP70 XL 4speed that I'm planning to use for Lane/Targa Rallying. Its quite tidy as its been in a garage for the last 15 years and was undersealed before it went in, only got 48,000 miles on it. A lot of interesting stuff on here - I was crazy jelous of Takumi's EP70 project!

Plans are to keep it within the MSA blue book reg's so limited to what I can do. So far the plans are:

  • Get it running! (not been moved for about 15 years), so far needs full service,
  • Uprate brakes - probably just to Ep82 on front, and maybe convert rears to discs (although a lot of people suggest rear drums are better for rallying so will see).
  • Replace brake pipes, and probably move inside the car.
  • Bucket seats and harnesses for safety
  • Sump protector.
  • Tidy up a couple of tiny bits of rust before they get any worse.
  • Driving lights.
  • Steering wheel upgrade
  • Poly Bushes
  • Uprated springs - have to keep same style of suspension for regulations.
  • Once it's all moving again I'll swap the engine for probably the 4EFE (1.3 dohc) and do a bit of old fashioned tuning on that.
  • And of course lots of go faster stickers.

If anyone's got any rally experience I'm grateful for the advice!

Thanks, the springs will hopefully do for the meantime then see what I need later on. Want to keep a fair bit of travel in them for rough ground. No good with a track setup on a gravel lane!

Sprayed some mini wheels;
