Sock's 746 Track GT Turbo

Recommended Posts

Been a while since I started a new project thread for something I intend on keeping.

I find it very difficult to become attached to cars, ive had many Starlets over the past 5-6 years.

I've been strong and resisted the temptation to keep some of them. Unfortunately, with the help of some peer pressure, I think this one is going to have to stay!

So on the 14th June 2015...

A 1995 Mk3 Starlet GT Turbo in '746 Turquoise Metallic'!

1 of 4 we know about in the UK at the present time...

By far the most unique colour the Mk3 was available in!

I purchased this one from our very well respected and trustworthy friends down in High Wycombe. It was cool, im clued up and played it dumb. Despite putting a false location on the advert and using a false identity as well. Was dead easy to figure out who was selling the car when asking for a postcode! It was easy to see how the wool is pulled over less experienced starlet buyers. Lots of stuff was disconnected or had been removed very poorly. It was cool though, the price was more then fair after some haggling and its nothing I didn't have as a spare already, so all was well.

She's a November 2008 Import and has covered 158,000km (which is just short of 100,000miles)
Fresh MOT with some small advisories on brake components getting close to requiring replacements.

Not a single piece of service history, however the MOT is surprising.

The first MOT in 2008 shows 120,083km.

2009 - 132,000km

2010 - 143,000km

2011 - 151,000km

Then Nothing. Was SORN'd and I presume stored for 4 years. Before being MOT'd in June and sold to myself.

This was immediately obvious when having a good look round the car. Cobwebs in the door shuts & fuel cap, green mold in some of the seals. etc

They had literally just given the car a quick wash and put it up for sale.

The car has some nice factory options on it.

  • OEM 3-Point Rear Strut Brace
  • OEM Wind Deflectors
  • OEM LSD Gearbox (they didn't know about this :p)
  • TRD Rear Window Decal? Optional Folks, was this a factory item? Looks as old as the car tbh!

The car also has some aftermarket goodies too.

  • 15" OZ Superleggera Alloy Wheels
  • HKS Mushroom Filter Kit
  • Fujitsubo Power Getter Exhaust System (My Fav Exhaust for these cars)
  • Unknown 50mm Lowering Springs
  • Unknown Short Shifter (has a metal top part, 100% not TRD)
  • TRD HT Leads
  • Razor Pedal Covers
  • Razor Gearknob (didnt fit)
  • Nardi Wheel w/Red Boss
  • Cusco Front Strut Brace
  • ZEP Super Low Drivers Rail w/Recaro SR3 Seat

Anyways! Enough Talk! Here she is when I collected her! and yes, this is there idea of clean...

The car does need some help/work and saving though!

  • Aftermarket Aerial in Roof (drilled hole in roof #facepalm)
  • Wiper Arms are Rotten
  • Gay Rear Foglight
  • De-Badged front and rear!
  • Little Scuffs and Marks on all the panels pretty much.
  • No Parcel Shelf
  • A/C that doesn't work
  • Very heavy steering for some reason
  • Gay BLACK tinted windows
  • Discs all round want doing (advisory)
  • Wheel bearings at rear need sorting
  • No Horn
  • Rear Lights are not working right, intermittent indicator speed!
  • Black Sludge, which was once engine oil.

The list goes on, but this will be saved let me assure you all!

The car drives really nicely, the engine is probably the sweetest 4E-FTE I've ever heard. When the sun hits that colour, its like getting KO'd!

Watch This Space

Better!

After replacing bulbs, replacing 1 rear light loom and removing some third party wiring. All the lighting on the back of the car is also restored back to original spec!

Nice to see a standard example, the engine bay on my advance used to look like that many moons ago haha

Stunning looking car mate colour is so unusual I've see plenty of gt's in all sorts of colours but by far that's the best colour I've seen apart from silver

Tis a nice colour. I agree it is the best colour a Mk3 can be had in! Certainly the rarest...

I see you also got wiper adapters on as well. Where did you manage to find mate? Only place I found a set was America. Stupidly enough I forgot they were for LHD wipers so were the wrong way round to fit.

Also looking awesome mate. Love the colour.
