funny onion
I have a G6 6 speed corolla gearbox in one of my GT's Edited February 1, 2016 by funny onion
Stu
C56 is a common conversion, shorter final drive and a few different gear ratios. Same design internally. Just swap off the 4age bellhousing and drill the passenger side mounts into the casing and your good to go. Good and strong. C160 also fit but are a weaker box. Probably fine for most setups though. Larger E series boxes don't physically fit without massaging the chassis Edited February 1, 2016 by Stu
Duduglanza
I have a G6 6 speed corolla gearbox in one of my GT'sDo 2nd gear crunch?
funny onion
Do 2nd gear crunch? No everything is fine no crunches, the shorter ratios give it more of a punch in the lower gears than a starlet box. only thing you have to modify is the shifter as reverse is next to first on this box. just need to notch some plastic from the shifter housing. gear cables, mounts etc are a straight swap

Stu
Stock c52 and c56 are very similar other than the c56 is a shorter ratio box. Both are pretty strong. C150 (EP71 N/A), C152 (EP71 Turbo), C160 etc are all lighter weight gearboxes

Bananajoe888
E58 can hold tons of Newtonmeter Torgue =Dbit heavier.. but i think u cant break it with a starletdoes somebody now how Strong the C64 gears are compared to C52? Edited February 3, 2016 by Bananajoe888
Stu
E series boxes are physically much larger, you need to do some "manipulation" to make them fit. Plus they dont come with an e series bellhousing

Think this will hold better than C52..300whp is much..Fire us as many details as u can I wondered before if a c64 gearset would fit in one of the 6speed gearboxes that people use from a g6 corrolla? Then mate it to the c52/56 bellhousing? Pretty sure the c64 casing isn't suitable in terms of selector position and starter position etc being from a rear engines rwd lotus What gearbox comes in a fwd tsport 2zz?Phil
morgey
Same box, the corolla and celica use C64 and 63 i think. The celica has closer ratios in 2nd and 3rd i believe. The boxes can be modified to it front or rear engined like the old c52 in the old aw11 mr2

Bananajoe888
Guys.. had a interesting talk with an Motorsport guy from Germany... he told me a way to use C64 (Corolla T-sport gearbox) nearly PnP on starlet. he said "you only have to combine the right parts =P
Stu
Its just a case of using the right housings so that the gearbox bolts to a e series engine. EDIT: Its interesting looking a the ratio comparisons between the C56 and the C64. C56A 5-Speed Manual Transmission for FWD and mid-engine cars. Compared to the C50/52, it features close-ratio 3rd-to-4th gearing.1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th Reverse Final3.166 1.904 1.392 1.031 0.815 3.250 4.312C64 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th Reverse Final3.166 2.050 1.481 1.166 0.916 0.815 3.250 4.529 Really short final drive, would be doing a fair few revs at 100kph!
