  1. ive tried to upload a pic, but not sure how to do it
  2. Hi, i got a valve keeper tool and stem seal pliers for sale if any ones interested, the keeper tool is the one where you just push it on the top of spring and it catches the collet, then use it to put back by just pushing on top of valve stem, only used both once to replace my valve stem seals but have now sold my starlet so dont really need them, cost me £70 for both, i will accept £40 for both, plus p&p, in box me if interested. both still in original packages. and in perfect condition.
  3. they are worn because theres side ways movement from the valves in the guides, cant seem to find any recon heads anywhere

    valve guides

does anyone know how much i expect to pay to have new valve guides fitted on my starlet 4e-fe , n/a cylinder head, fitted new valve stem seals but still smoking only when started up after being left overnight, think its the guides that must be worn, cheers
  5. cheers for that, many thanks
  6. cheers for that, i just thought that the spindle turns the rotar in the cap, didint want it pointing to wrong ht lead, if you know what i mean
  7. so I have removed both camshafts to do the valve stem seals, I have done everything right ie making sure crank set to tdc, and cam marks lined up, but after removing the dizzy the spindle on the bottom that sets into the end of the cam has been turned, I have marked the position of the dizzy body in relation to the head but need to know the spindle is in right position when re fitting, any tips, thanks
  8. the bolts that hold the top timing belt cover are a perfect fit for the service bolt, so managed to use one of them, happy days

    service bolt

gonna take my camshafts out tday but havent got a service bolt, anyone know if a drill bit would be ok to use, or if any of the cam bolts would fit, cheers
  10. so ime replacing these in a couple of months when the weathers abit better, do you think its best to fit genuine toyota ones, just been quoted £136 inc vat full set from toyota !!, or are there cheaper ones, i want to use good ones because i dont want to the job again after a few months, any suggestions, cheers.
  11. just wondering what the difference is ?
  12. so, ime going to replace the valve stem seals in the new year, the guides on here are really useful , ime gonna use the rope method because i dont want to disturb the head, just wondering would i have to completely remove the timing belt or just from the top on the cam, ime not sure if the belt would stay on when ime turning crank pulley to move the piston down, then up to compress the rope, can anyone help, cheers.
  13. cheers, thanks for that, i hope its gonna be easy enough to do, did them on a vauxhall viva about 30 years ago but it was easier , just a matter of removing rockers and push rods, never done them on an overhead cam, just hope i dont balls it up, any advice or tips is greatly appreciated.
