Got chance of a c56 box which also needs syncros replacing but can get it fairly cheap.

So was thinking of getting that and rebuilt so i can do a straight swap...

I read that the c52 has a longer 3rd and 4th ratio but is there a noticeable drop between the boxes???

I'm thinking MR2/Celica/Corolla/Yaris rather than the wideley known G6/G6R.  I know there's been all sorts of discussion over the years of swapping various gear sets into C56 bell housing but what can actually be done?

I had my Glanza gearbox rebuilt last year and it's still useless, takes forever to get into 2nd, crunches a lot, feels like someones pouring a bucket full of nuts and bolts between the cogs when changing gear. Absolutely awful and completely ruins the car and as I'm now spending out for a forged engine I want to do something about it, so need something that will handle up to 300bhp, and would be nice if I can use my existing LSD, can't remember if it's 6 or 8 bolt pattern, whichever a standard Glanza is.

Is there any other interest in these, to give you an idea, they had a special offer on shifters at the show for £300, so expect to pay that for one of these.

From what I've read, the glanza and the NA clutches and flywheels are interchangeable between eachother, as long as you change the full clutch and flywheel kit. Is this correct? I ask as I can only find lightweight flywheels for glanzas. Am I right in assuming no change to the starter motor ect is required? Cheers

After making some weird jackhammer noises and a push start it doesn't do a thing anymore.

 

Checked the startermotor, currently have a 28100-11140 and by the looks of it a 28100-11130 also fits. Any other starters that would fit?

Pros and cons.

I'm Sam and loving the c60 cusco lsd , as well as the c160 TRD lsd, it came with. For me the difference was top speed and motorway Cruz rpm the c160 had a bigger top speed as well as lower 70mph Cruz rpm. 

But very impressed with how these things get you to your target speed very fast, very smooth constant acceleration.

how this box transforms power/acceleration/control from 80hp to 240hp is really impressive.   

The cons for me is the sudden throttle off unlocking of the diff. 

You have to be ready for the understeer and sudden torque steer that comes.

I have a 1994 2ee  NA 1.3 xli think its an ep81 ( always get the 81 and 82 mixed up)

I have knocking from my cv joints, both sides, the drivers side has been replaced 2 times already, and the cv boots replaced on many other occasions, just wondering if anyone else keeps having issues with the cv boots tearing? Is it a know common fault? What would be causing this to keep happening, any ideas? I'm looking to replace the joints but want to resolve the problem that is causing the boots to keep failing, otherwise I'll be replaceing the joints more often than needed.

i just dont know how it can be so different i had to do my cv joints few years ago and cod not get any parts to fit had them sent from toyota and they did not even fit tryed 12 parts in all then ended up getting them sent away and reconditioned!

my car is nearly back on the road after a rebuild so i want the trd mounts really badly!

Start of the week I had the bright idea to change my gearbox from a C154 to a C52. Took a couple of days but it's all back together now and as far as I can tell the gearbox itself is working properly. My problem is with the starter, which seems to be permanently engaging the fly causing all kinds of horrible noises, not to mention smoke above 1.5k rpm. I didn't actually take the starter out of the car when I was changing the box, I just unbolted it and left it plugged in with the bigass ring connector held on by a 12mm bolt on the back of it. Is it fragile enough that that might have damaged it? And if not, any ideas what it could be?
