The proud new owner. 

The plan is to fit my spare zisco original turbo kit externally gated with a tdo4l turbo have here, the 4efte power inlet manifold, high lift 5ehfe cams, fadaza alloy fly wheel 212mm 4efte clutch and my spare c60 none lsd gearbox. On a stand alone ECM, FMIC, 372cc injectors areomotive fuel reg, kemso fuel pump. See what she does at .7bar. my aim is around 160hp higher torque output. 

I pick it up when I'm back mid June. 

I'm wanting to use this for commuting around the British isles as well as everyday use. The shape and style suits me better than the starlet. As well as being a better shape & power for motorway (high speed) economy. I can save the ep 91 for summer and track day use. As well as hand back my company car. 

The spec of this as of the 1/12/2021 is as follows.

Turbo/gen1 4efe power inlet manifold (increasing power over 4krpm by some margin)

4efte 50mm throttle body modified to house the 5efe TPS, ported/polished with the heater element removed lowering intake temps by as much as 30deg'C (increasing power again over 4krpm) 

corrola intake pipe, and itg £15 sock air filter. 

Light weight alloy 4+kg flywheel (helping the engine rev alot freely threw out the rpm)

Low anertia exedy paddle clutch 212mm 4efte (again helping the engine rev as well as being ready for boost when it comes). 

230cc 7afe denso injectors. 

ebay copy aroemotive adjustable fuel pressure reg set at 2.8bar regulated pressure. (Helping provide the near perfect fueling on the 5e factory management. with a perfect small increased fuel pressure of 3psi upon throttle open) passed the mot emissions with no problems, as well as a noticeable power increase using the 230cc units on the standard 190+cc injectors. 

ngk iridium heat range 5 spark plugs. (Helping the low kv factory coil provide accurate ignition timing along with the engine earthing kit fitted. (A sweet spot found with an increased base ignition timing set at 15deg btdc). 

kemso high delivery and flow eBay fuel pump (I'm very impressed with these pumps). And so far can't fault them. Provides much better fuel pressure. 

zisco rams horn exhaust manifold modified to fit the factory paseo exhaust system. (Again affecting the mid to top end power by a good margin, as well as giving the engine a very smooth throttle response). The exhaust system starts to whistle around 3krpm with the throttle just over 1/2 open and gets louder and louder with increased rpm/opening of the throttle, telling me it's hitting peak flow. 

gearbox swapped to the G6 corrola close ratio 6speed. 

After these mods the cars power originally 89hp has completely transformed feels like 120hp+ very rev happy. With mpg still around 40+mpg. Hunts speeds down upto 90mph very easily with 120mph achievable in a respectable time. (The engine torque output and low drag vehicle shape also a helping factor). 

brakes: reconditioned front calipers using yellow stuff pads. Brake fluid replaced with new rear wheel cylinders drums and shoes. 

suspension: new front bottom ball joints, new roll bar drop links with new front top mounts. 

things to come in the new year full custom 2inch exhaust system with high flow cat. 

full respray and under sealed with the rust removed and treated. 

tdo5 20g turbocharger. Before this is fitted I will get the car on the Dyno, with the hp figures representing what you would see with the same mods on the smaller cc 4e having a smaller stroke (rev box). the only difference will be seen as the 5e uses a higher lift inlet cam (same as the 4efte) and around 20 to 30% higher torque output (larger stroke engine).

ongoing project atm had major engine failure (4e-fte)so taking it steady on the rebuild side of things as its expensive for the second car toy

Didn't have MOT and Timing belt was like 12000 miles overtime and more than 5 years old.  

Had a little damage on the right door and rear fender. Previous owner drove to close to a pole
Headlights were a little bit foggy.

MOT problems were

After the MOT i saw much rust underneath the car. The car has been on a farm with a gravel road to it lol like it has been sandblasted everyday. 

Also the sump pan was heavily rusted so removed most of it carefully, Then put a layer of liquid gasket onto it as a temporary fix

Also replaced the horn with VW snakehouse 

Fitted CV unit with immobilser and remote trunk opener.

Disconnected the keyfunction, and added the motor for trunk release, cable still functional

Replaced the panhard rod with Cusco spherical bearing one.

Had to replace 1 lower arm ball joint

Air compressor custom water separators, There is still vacuum applied here, so it suck the gasses right out of the carter..

Some maintance, Paseo on the rear is 10mm wider and front 20mm

Intake temp, volt, EGT, Also AEM gauge and Wideband bosch sensor onboard.

Needs to be fitted

Prius cross drilled 25mm brakediscs

Replacement for the whiteline swaybar on the rear, stainless steel 7mm thick

Total wrecked lol last accident, Will receive 1300 quid for this LOL

Couldn’t help myself so purchased a glanza front strut but it fouls on the alarm box and fuel filter so need to move them both! Moving the alarm box could be a pain.

wanted to see what the Advan rg1s would look like so had a quick test fit.

managed to snap a wheel stud!!! So need to sort that but if I’m going to the effort of taking disc off etc may aswell stick some glanza/gt front setup on.

so short term plans are:

k&n panel filter, Corolla inlet, lowering springs. Sort rear arches, Need to see if starlets share the same lower arms as need to get a spare set to polybush as it’s nard to find spare paseo ones and new ones are over £100 a side lol

long term.... 5efe-t or maybe N/A build with bike bodies.

Heres the story, i have a karmann ghia:

which i race in autosolos/autotests and autocross, but as body panels are getting expensive and rare, i went looking in scrap/salvage yards for a car to use for autocross/rallycross and stage rallying, origionly looking looking at corsas, fiestas, micras etc, and happened to come accross this:

I hadnt even heard of a paseo untill i saw this one, hoping it would have a 4AGE under the bonnet, it didnt, but 1500 16v and 89k on the clock, bodywork pretty good shape (apart from the laquer was peeling off) and a mint interior, i thought it looked pretty cool, and different from the corsas/fiestas etc. After repairing the rust, respraying and helping my mate build up is UK '86 i knew a toyota would be a good choice

it was up for £395, but managed to get it for £300, there is nothing up with it, and its still registered, so can be used on the road

after picking it up and taking it to my garage, me and my mate, hannah, got on with stripping the interior out, taking out all the sound deadening, and seam welding the whole car

ive had the car a week, and so far, painted the front and rear suspension and inner arches, seam welded the whole car, cut inner skins off the doors, made moulds for fibreglass bonnet and bootlid, and made an a frame for towing the car ;)

notice the saggy bum, it took me a little while to realise but the shocks were shot so i've swapped them over now, and put on some 16's i had lying around. admittedly the tyres are too big so the next mods include adjustable panhard rod and lower profile tyres. oh i've also replaced the radiator with the thicker cored civic rad and fitted a cold air induction kit i made up:

First,there was not a lot of powerfull japanese car in my island and the bigest JDM car was the subaru sti...the Evo arrives lately...Sure there was only 1 NSX honda and 1 old supra NA...

after a broken hose oil my car died when i was driving and it was very very difficult to find a 5efe block as there were only15 PAseo in my island...after some search the local toyota wanted to sell me an 5efe engine that was near the price of my car ...i decided to go to 4efe to 4efte..I bought a 4efe engine (easy to find due to the lot of 4efe starlet owner) and a ep82 loom+all the sensor with the ECU.MEanwhime at the same time my friend Trevor has done some days at the hospital and i have to rebuild my house after some disaster due to a typhoon...and the project was slowly stoped due to these problems

Now it is time to wake up the Beast really after some sleeping years and after the new arrival of the japanese cars on my island (but with RHD ), now we have some RX7 twin turbo a lot of subaru & legacy twin turbo,mazda MX6 V6,Supra twin turbo,Trueno,levin ae86 etc...and we are like a family .We spend time on road and meeting ...

Sold the Glanza and decided to buy this because it was at the right price and i wanted one since I was a child!

shes hd a fortune spent on her over the years with receipts to prove!

some nice optional extras too.

First thing to be changed is the wheels anyway,found the set i want,now its just a case of saving up for them!

Very clean standard example.New tein springs and an apexi turbo timer are the only mods.

Very happy with it so far.

Decided to buy it off of him as hes planning on changing car so I couldn't let some idiot buy it and ruin it so bought it myself to drive as a run around whilst i work on the gt and whatnot

However, with fuel prices as they are I've needed a cheaper runabout for a while... And I came across this little bargain the other day!

But I had to get busy removing the stickers and sorting the numberplate!

I intend to spend very little on her, basically other than essential servicing parts and tires.

Other than that I will only get cheap 'pre loved' parts for her!

Plan will be sorting my stereo out in it, and possibly lowering it.

Also the alarm doesn't work, so anyone got any ideas on what to check to get it working again?

Car had a small feature in Classic cars for sale magazine as the editor was going to use it as a project car but they ran out of time to do it. i got it with no MOT but it sailed right thru.

All in all great little car and keeping me on the road with lower costs than my previous mr2 turbo !!!

my only problem is the car feels like its holding back in the mid rev range so may need to run some cat or injector cleaner thru it. Anythinf else i can check for on the car ? no engine managment light at all ?!?!

Project story:

It appears to have started life as a demonstrator at Auto Scuderia (Long Ashton) Toyota Garage in Bristol. It's first real owner was a company, again in Bristol as of Sept '97, where it stayed for around 10 years, then passed onto someone, then the previous owner before me.

The car has 150k on the clock but runs well. The shock absorbers are forked, the brakes are ok but need replacing before MOT methinks. I believe most of these miles were done motorway with the company, so was no expense spared as a company car? Either way, it doesn't seem to burn oil at all - no smoke and still its original engine - and that brings me to the appearance - the engine bay is filthy. Just general muck, never been wiped down or cleaned in any way, shape or form. The bodywork is knackered too. Not too far past it, just crap. Full OEM Lip Kit ('flimsey' style front lip, earliest version of the front lip I believe.) and the rear lip is buggered. Looks as if they reversed into a post of some sort and buggered the bumper, lip and rear light cluster.

Project aim:

Repair - refine.

It will be for the missus when she passes her test, so the aim is to get it looking good again. Might take some spraying up though.

I have a replacement rear bumper and lip for the back, aswell as the light cluster. It needs a replacement wing too.

I've decided today that I will be giving it a full respray - just need to wait until the end of the month when I can buy myself a mini-gun and compressor.

It needs a new drivers wing too, so I will be getting ahold of one of them soon too.
