  1. To mention on my Glanza there are 3 electrical plug connectors at the top: left, middle and right.

Push in the squeezy clip located in the centre of each whilst pulling them out.

Then there is a white plastic 'over clip' on the top of the speedo cable in the centre of the clocks, that sits in a notch where it connects into the back of the clocks. Feel it with your fingers. Prise it slightly from one side with your fingers whilst sliding it down and off the speedo cable. Then the cable will come out with a bit of a tug.

Then the clocks will be free to remove.

Reverse the process when putting back in.

  2. The most important thing I can recommend is buying the best quality bulbs for the clock lights i.e. Osram.

I had a couple of experiences replacing the clock bulbs with basic brand bulbs and they lasted less than 6 months and then you have to redo it all again.

The Osram's I've had in are years old and still good.

  3. Quick update on explaining the mystery.

I got in touch with Jay on TGTT who told me that:

"Toyota started introducing a different evaporator housing from Dec 97 (coincides nicely with the mk2 V) which incorporated cabin pollen filters. As you can imagine in Japan this was a major feature as they are all about the air quality. Worth noting that it's not just as cut and dry as that. Pollen filters only became factory in 97, however before that you could still spec them as a dealer option. That means there's 1996 V's running round with them too albeit retrofitted."

Therefore, this would also generally agree with why toyodiy parts catalogue has only 97+ V's listed for the pollen filters.

Jay also mentioned that the EP82's never got them as they were obviously previous to this.

  4. I think you may be right.

Here is a pic of my genuine 96 v.

    (Sorry couldnt rotate pic)

The box has no filter hole. However i notice there's a pipe comnected that looks like it goes through the firewall, your car doesn't have that pipe so toyota must have changed a few things on the facelift system.

  5. Actually reading the threads on tgtt so many contradicting views.

I'd be interested to see what the definitive answer is. Some saying 98 spec glanza has them whilst 96 spec doesn't. Vast majority that say they have them is ep91 non turbo / not glanza models.

Pretty certain my 96 does not have them remember looking numerous times...

  6. Just a relatively small problem but a warning to others buying more expensive items.

I purchased an HKS pink oil filter for £17.00 off this chap advertising on fb marketplace.

After receiving it today, covered in oil, the box too, it is damaged and has already been used on a car!

I am actually amazed at the stupidity that this has happened and that the seller actually thought they could do this and send a used oil filter to someone when they have charged what it would be for a new filter (as I was expecting).

Thankfully paid paypal so claiming in process, but a warning to others as who knows what other crap he'll try and sell.

  7. Ah Ok, considering my Glanza is black, I think i'll leave it but thanks for taking the time to settle my mind on what they were.

(Mine has never had any on, so I didn't realise that they were there from factory)

I get how the bolt caps are important though and make a decent difference.

My Toyota can still get them in, checked this morning, but £5.16 each.

  8. Can anyone share a real picture of one of these, I have no idea what the part looks like or where it actually fits but it is meant to be some sort of garnish / cover for the front bumper grill and there are supposedly 4 of them.

The description on the image attached is 53141C (full part number 52127-10030-C0)  when you search google for the image it doesn't show a real pic of one.

     On toyodiy it is:

    53141C GARNISH, RADIATOR GRILLE
    52127-10030-C0 BLACK, 040 , 1A0 4 $4.86

    Much appreciated.
