Makes a big difference and was easy to put on. The exterior is basically finished now I think. I might dewiper it but that's it really.

I've a few things other things I want doing but they aint major atm, I'll enjoy the car for now and see how it goes :p

Car looks amazing shame you let it go😭

You may be just the person im looking for

I've got a glanza spolier im trying to fit to a starlet EP91 boot and wondered whats the best way of doing it

I also have some glanza headlights that have cracks in another user linked me to this thread and i saw you 3D printed repairs and wondered if you had any tips to see if they can be saved

I Also need your 3D printed parcel shelf stays in my life my dad broke both of my by accident and i drives me mad😂

Past few weeks I've been asking for prices to get bits painted, the bootlid had a silver spoiler and a glanza plate surround fitted but was painted poorly, it had a tiny bubble of rust around the wiper arm to which I wanted fixing.

A mate gave me a new bootlid which was red so fitted it and got the window tinted, the old bootlid got stripped and the bits off it will be painted soon.

The car itself was so badly faded I wanted it sorted badly. Got my mate who done the old starlet and he worked his magic yet again!

Going back next week to finish the rest off and get my new GT seats cleaned and all! 😎

  • 4 weeks later...

Been a while since I updated this, nothing major just a good full service and new tyres on the wheels I've been wanting to put on for ages.

Also had the side panels and the top of the door wrapped in gloss black. Going full rep!

Also made another purchase 👀 see if you can guess what it is 😅

Went to combe last week was great having so many starlets on one stand!

Car was on the back row hence why it's not in shot 😂

Have a few more things to get done to the car but not much else after that! I've the other to keep me busy for now!

Haven't updated this for months! Purely because not much has changed because I've been working on the GLS more then the daily.

The car passed the mot over a month ago, only 1 advisory! Not bad for a 20+ year old car.

I've loads of bits to fit to the car but with Christmas round the corner I'll have to wait to get them painted and fitted. Watch this space!

Really should update this more 😅

The car has been getting some love recently with a few parts finally painted and fitted.

PXL_20210228_130404427.thumb.jpg.ba17542dab23782ef3dddb80de7387ec.jpg

Got the sideskirts wrapped and fitted, last time I used just sealant but this time I just screwed them in and abit of sealant to keep the water out.

PXL_20210501_155123901.thumb.jpg.bad89887181da764e275fec60a3a5ef4.jpg

Plate surround repainted and fitted

PXL_20210507_171633328.thumb.jpg.279f312be0aaa06b3717501385e78b6f.jpg

And the spoiler also done at the same time and fitted. Wanted the lights covered cause like last time it's something different. Even tho it's a Glanza rep that's been done a million times 😂

Bought a piece of MDF from B&Q and cut a rough shape to cover the boot for abit of a false floor.

PXL_20210418_140714242.thumb.jpg.77b13812394a9460d5b50cf1aebd20c0.jpg

It's not perfect but it don't rattle and it's a good fit. Plus once you chuck the boot carpet on it, it's nice and tidy.

So this is currently how the car sits. Combe is just under 3 weeks away so wanted it all these exterior parts done by then.

The clutch has started to slip tho so I'm tackling that this weekend so another update won't be ages again!

Got the new clutch fitted this morning on my day off, took me and a mate 5 hours in and out, would've been quicker if it wasn't for the speedo cable!

PXL_20210515_084116922.thumb.jpg.705c4e592ebc571a612527929481369b.jpg

Clutch had seen better days I'd say!

The main seal was leaking so I replaced that too, new flywheel bolts fitted aswell. PXL_20210515_090023274.thumb.jpg.651b832735e0a13f9a700c354310c7c9.jpg

First time I've done a clutch on a starlet and it wasn't a bad job, few fiddly bolts and that speedo cable, that was the hardest parts really.

If anyone ever needs help changing one here's a brief 'How to'. I probably missed out something but the main info is there.

Drain the oils (Don't need to drain the engine oil but I was replacing the main seal)

Remove Battery

Air filter housing off (3 bolts)

Slave off (2 bolts)

Gear Linkage off and moved out the way (2 pins, 2 washers and 2 clamps)

Speedo cable off (Take off the cluster itself - Small hands needed for this cause it's very fiddly. We left it attached to the box in the end)

Lower ball joint off the lower arm (3 bolts)

Driveshaft/ Hub nut (we only removed the passenger side driveshaft cause it was easier)

And a few ground bolts, ones for brackets and a sensor on the gearbox itself (grey coloured on mine, right on the top you can't miss it)

Driveshaft out

Remove all the bell housing bolts (5) and Cover plate bolts (3)

Gearbox and Rear mount off (We undid the gearbox mount which was 2 on the chassis and 3 on the box, Rear mount was 1 bolt to take off, the bracket for the mount was left on the gearbox)

Give the gearbox and good old jiggle and be patient and it should come off easy enough.

Give it a good clean inside and put your new clutch, bearing and pressure plate on and do the job again in reverse!

Torque Settings needed are:

Flywheel bolts - 90 Nm/88 Nm

Clutch pressure plate bolts - 19 Nm

Hub/Driveshaft Nut - 216 Nm

Hopefully that helps someone, not the best how to but it's better then nothing!

Combe next Saturday so the car is all sorted for that now, quick wash on Friday and that'll be it!

Been to spring and summer action at combe since the last update, was great having so many starlets on one stand once again.

PXL_20210522_081600188.thumb.jpg.077c2f52f7ec4a7c86544c07ae1ea0c7.jpg

Nearly shot myself in the foot by forgetting my pass on Saturday but managed to get in 😅

No new updates atm, car has no problems since I changed the clutch, a few things to tidy up around the car that will be it I think. I can start putting all my spare time into the GLS then and get it back on the road hopefully!

Been quite a while since I posted a update!

Been working more on the GLS then this as usual but not much has gone wrong.

The starter motor decided to stop working so fitted a new one. Easy job just 3 bolts and a plug. Simples.

Passed the MOT few weeks ago with no advisory's so happy days! 👍🏻

Now with the cold weather setting in not much will be done until the spring getting ready for shows, etc.

GLS probably will be another year until I get it on the road but it is what it is! 😅

The end of this thread has come ☹️

The car was sold just under a month ago, I swapped it for a Yaris T Sport, a deal both me and the new owner was happy with.

I had done all I could to the car and I've grown tired of it and the scene in general so I thought it was time for a change. The car was a great servant to me and my friend who had it before me. Id been to several shows, met lots of really nice people and made the car a great example which I hope keeps going for many years to come.

I've still got the GLS but until the major job is sorted I wont be working on it much.

Maybe a new thread will start on it one day when its finally on the road! 😅

If anyone is interested in any parcel shelf clips or headlight clips I can sort you out a set, just message me on Instagram

@Kevcenko27

Cheers all the best 👍
