RoyalDutchie
Hi All I'm currently rebuilding one of my rear calipers but I'm stuck on the final component. It's the part marked with red, I can turn it around but can't pull it out. Are there any tricks or tools to make it easier to remove it?
glanzadude
that should just fall out pal. face the caliper down on the work table and hit it and will fall out. I rebuilt my own so i no but it was 2 years ago
BMX-RIG
As said above, unless the part with the part number 47407A is still on with the circlip in place.
glanzadude
That circlip is a right bitch to get off and on because off the spring in the 47730c keeps poping out.hard to explain really but have a long nose circlip pliers and a flat screwdriver to help you guide down the circlip in place and a good led light to see things. RoyalDutchie
I removed the part with the spring and circlip, came out rather easy. But 47406 and 47621A seems to be seized up than. can turn both around but they don't just fall out. Also tried to tap it with a hammer but didn't made a difference. Yes very!😂 i found with one set that the cage with the spring arrangement was actually damaged and simply wouldnt hold in! Ended up using one from another caliper and the circlip when straight in afterwards lol. as for the above im not sure why it wouldn't come out as theirs nothing keeping it in. RoyalDutchie
Thanks for the help and information anyway. Read that the part is hold in with the rubber around it to a certain extend. Tried to de solve some of the rubber with acetone but didn't seem to make a difference yet. Is it possible to remove the handbrake pin(47621A) without removing part 47406 first? BMX-RIG
You could, but it depends how 47613B is sat inside of 47621A as it has a recess where the pin sits in. As the mechanism rotates that is what operates the handbrake, ill try get some photos on monday when im back at work👍🏻
RoyalDutchie
Finally got it out by using one of my last resorts. I've used acrylic sealant to bond the surface of part 47406b with the brake caliper, after a few days I turned 47406b around and it moved out. After that I removed 47406b with some needlenose pliers without much effort.
