Im a bit ocd when it comes to getting everything clean haha want it to be as show quality as i can get it :) more update coming shorly engine will be going in the car with in 2 weeks!

managed to get engine in at the weekend, just waiting on a An4 oil feed for the turbo to be made so i can start it, will be putting rad in, intercooler piping, and final parts this weekend going to look mad when done. Also purchased a racespec intake manifold off facebook should have that by the end of the week too so my inlet mani will be for sale.  enjoy

I know its going well fast haha, cant wait to get it mapped going to be at least 3 months for that though as the bill is rather high due to my ecu choice :D more updates this weekend keep an eye out

Cheers mate cant wait to get it on the road only drove it for 25 miles since i bought it 4 months ago haha. I paid £450 for my complete 5efe engine had 30k miles on it from a friend of mine, easiest way of knowing an 5efe condition is pulling out of a paseo and trying to buy a paseo cheap off the internet ect.

I went with the 5efe due to being 1.5 and will help spool up my turbo a little bit easier. I've been building this engine up now for about 3 months. literally in the final steps.  Im very ocd when it comes to details with cars want everything as clean as possible and looking like pure car porn haha just more expensive.

I attend a lot of my local shows/meets in summer ect, i will be at jap fest this year and jae more than likely.  i cant wait to feel the power of the 5e.

There's alot of pride in your work. I've found a 5efe block and crank near me 150quid. Looking at the engines torque levels I can only imagine how it will feel. And from what I'm reading don't suffer from cracked crank  main caps like the 4efte/4efe.

I looked into going 5E briefly last year, but got lost in a sea of info about them lol. From what I can gather there were 2 variants...a normal 5E and a high comp one also? 5EFHE IIRC?

As you said though, I think I would be better off buying a paseo as a donor car to begin with :) . I wasn't chasing silly power as I drive my GT (TD04) daily at times, but the additional torque would be nice in a street car I reccon.

Hopefully i dont crack a crank cap haha, my mate recently crack 2.   If you want to do a 5e build go for it mate :)

Yeah there was the 5efe, the 5efte and the 5efhe i believe. You can pick paseos up fairly cheap so you might be able to make a bit of cash back on scrap metal and parts ect. 

I want big but reliable power anything above 370 for me and ill be well happy with the result. More updates coming super soon.

Got a little bit more done last night after work managed to do the following...

Put external wastegate and screamer pipe on manifold
Got the intercooler piping sorted at turbo side so its all connected
Put on the turbo braided water lines
Put in new iridium heat range 8 plugs
Put HT leads on. 

here is how it looks now... 

OH and i also manages to snipe some Id 1050x Injector dynamics fuel injectors for £310 on ebay so thats saved me over £140.
