Nice. Great location to show it off.  Mine is the tail air cooled but at present it's under my radiator where it can't be seen at the end of a long pipe. I'm going to relocate this to a better position very soon where it can be seen.

So this is the making of hopefully a reasonable bodge. I cut an old hot pipe short and had the friend of a friend ali weld around the cut to give a protrusion to hold the clamp on. Everything after the out of place ‘blue’ joiner is from original setup. Fairly confident it will hold but feeling I may get in touch with wepr once they are up and running again to order their pipe work for the new turbo position. Really feeling I should have done this when ordering the manifold but hey, that’s hindsight for you!

Has been a pretty productive day being that only one job was booked in at work. Radiator and piping fitted then wastegate piped up using the guide on gfb’s website for my g force II. Also got rid of a wiring eyesore, must have been a very early halogen diy kit!

Engine oil, gear oil, steering fluid, clutch bleed and just water for coolant followed. Then the moment of truth. Turned over by hand a fair few times, cranked over without spark, and after 4 months she lives once more!!! 

Nerve racking moment but my god it felt good. Up to temperature we went then on with the first coolant drain. Added a flush for the second, third was pretty clear fourth was clean. Only leak to appear is a drip of oil from around the distributor, will sort that before getting on the road along with sorting a catch can. 
 

Before heading home cooling system has been filled with actual coolant, lights and bumper fitted. This is how I left her, I’m so happy but still cautious until she’s on the road.

Today got the catch can fitted. Surprising how little time I get to spend on the car given the current situation. Awaiting on a breather filter for the outlet port but opinions please, would people be happy running such a set up?

Also waiting on distributor o ring and oil pressure switch to cure two leaks found. Once fitted ignition timing to be checked and I’m going to do a pressure test on the intake piping before taking her on the road to run in the engine. I’m getting excited!

Thanks Sam. The spec isn’t huge but trying to have a top notch ct9 setup. 
 

Good to hear your parts are nearly all together, as said before I will be following your 5e build 👍🏻

Barely an update but the starlet is back on the road. Parts arrived to cure small engine oil leaks, ignition timing sorted and pressure test passed on intake piping.

Covered nearly 150km and nearly all is fine so far. Bit more poodling around to be done until oil change and then some more poodling until putting some boost on. Cracking to be driving it after 6 months no matter the speed 😃.

Power steering pump has a slight weep, cant find anything along the lines of a rebuild kit so in the near future will take it off and see what I can come up with. Any advice of course will be much appreciated.

Not a fan off red personally, but that bay is looking sweet AF now bud :)

power steering, I've seen on here folk use Saxo electric pumps tucked into the wing, can't mind the thread it was on tho

I’ve seen the Saxo pumps used, not for me right now although I appreciate you both searching it. With a second child and house move on the way I was looking for a simpler sort. 
I’ve always liked the red accents skiny, beats the generic blue but thanks for the thumbs up even though it’s not you 👍🏻

Back on boost now, the external wastegate has been the best part I’ve bought for it! Used to hit fuel cut regularly but not now. 

Nothing been done since finishing the engine apart from a few oil changes and trying to keep clean. Had our second child since and undergoing a house move which is dragging on but, nearly there and will have a garage to tuck the starlet away for some general restoration. Need to have the back axle out to replace bushes, maybe source anti roll bar. Rocker cover leaks oil from the retaining nuts which is baffling but I have a spare which I intend to polish and fit with more new seals. 

Did go for a blast with a mates 290bhp A5 Quattro and was astounded to keep up no problem 😯. Still loving The starlet and I think I always will. I’ll update when I get chance to work on it again 👍🏻

Really awesome build mate...enjoyed reading from start to finish.

Can I ask what size pro ram filter and trumpet based you used? I have one at the moment, but its waaay too big to fit behind my grill. Your one looks like it fits perfect.
