My other car is a Nissan cube I imported a few years back. My first car was German (mk 2 jetta) but I have zero interest in the VAG scene or any other German makes. The orange one had to go to make room for the starlet

Wardyep95
So a bit more progress, or not.... When I imported the starlet, my importer told me that in his opinion it felt like it needed a new clutch in the not too distant future. So that was today's job Unfortunately it seems like a wasted day, as the clutch I removed looks brand new. Still at least I know now, and I've learnt how to change a clutch as its a job I've never tackled before.
Wardyep95
So anyway, it's nearly back together, I've had enough for today, clutch is in and box back on. The rest should be easy. I will be rebuilding these calipers Got a rebuild kit from Id workz and currently striping all the many layers of paint away ready for a fresh coat. Will be having a fresh set of pads and new drilled and grooved discs. Will be refilling the gearbox and transfer box with fresh oil, and will do the rear diff at the same time. And I have a decat pipe for the ct9 that I will throw on as I piece it back together. So that's it for today I'll be back on it as soon as I get some time off work and will be at castle coombe for spring action day for those that are attending.

Socks
Cant be many of these around these days! Like the colour alot, the work your doing is going to pay off for sure. Launch Videos plzplzplz
daniel_g
Should have put a paddle clutch in it whilst the box was out! Not a fun job. You can launch these at 6k rpm no drama, side step the clutch and they just take off.
Sam44
Did you replace any oil seals, (rear main/gear input shaft) looks like oil on the old clutch + in the bell housing.

No, looks like old oil in the bell housing, and what looks like oil on the old clutch is actually the spline lube that has flung outwards, other than that it was totally dry. And I plan to drive it a bit more sympathetically than that lol.

Wardyep95
So slow progress at the moment, but still determined to be ready for spring action day at castle coombe. The o/s front brake was binding badly so a rebuild was in order, I nabbed a pair of used calipers on ebay and a genuine Toyota rebuild kit, along with new pads and drilled and grooved discs. The colour might not be to everyone's taste but I like it. Nice easy job except for stripping the multiple layers of old paint off. And the wife was on hand to help bleed them up. Also bled the clutch at the same time, refilled the gearbox and transfer box with some pricey oil, and will be using the same oil in the rear diff when I get round to it. And after hours reading about engine oils I was more confused than when I started but settled on this as it looks to be good stuff, along with a genuine Toyota oil filter. And decat on too Edited April 18, 2021 by Wardyep95
