Got quoted £90 to fit new crank seal on my glanza which i thought was reasonable they rang today and said it's actually £162 which i thought ok thats not too bad

Then the other mechanic said we got to take of the cambelt which is an extra hour or so.

Which took it to £269 wtf.

And to have the cambelt alternator belt and seal done was £729 ohh my god!!.

So i said i'll leave it and do it myself what a joke. And JAE is Thursday so i just bought a 1L top up of oil just incase it gets worst.

FUCKING JOKE THESE CARS!!!!!!!

oh wow that escalated quickly..

the part is what £14? them labour costs are high, but it can be a bitch of a job :p I wouldnt want to do one lol

The crank seals are actually a doddle. Its just all the faffing about with the timing belt and crank pulley etc. Plus if you've got it off, it would be silly to not replace it.

I'd aim for a specialist, my experience with main places like that (even Audi and BMW) is that they just throw apprentices at jobs like that, pay a fortune for it when the bloke doing the work ain't even trained yet.

I can confirm that ^^^^^

When replacing the crank seal on the timing side you'd be silly to use all the old shit so replacing the lot will be expensive.

Toyota labour is about 80 odd quid an hour at my local branch so you can see how it all mounts up.

Do it yourself :)
