samcole
My td04 glanza has started blowing oil out of the breather on the cam cover. Oil pressure if really high? Any ideas?Help!!!!
5e colin
worn engine and oil blow by :) or a stuck oil relieve valve ( in the sump )
samcole
What do you mean by oil blow by?
5e colin
i should of bean more clearly just ordinary blow by from worn piston rings this inturn spits out the oil you also said high oil pressure this might be the relieve valve

samcole
Oh ok thanks. Looks like I've got my work cut out then
5e colin
how much boost do you run ???
rwdrev
engine rebuild with some expensive forgies in it ;) mine blew oil everywhere, found out after i had drove 400 mile home 1 day, lol
samcole
Ring lands? 1 bar of boost
5e colin
they dont tend to break at a bar usually always around 1.2/1.
rwdrev
mine broke up at a bar, this is the problem, tho this is with the bits removed, they snap off the main body of the piston, then when you remove the piston from the block, you can just flick the broken bits out
samcole
Oh dear.would this cause the high oil pressure?
Fozzie
Yes - when the piston moves up in the cylinder and should be compressing the a/f mixture, pressure is escaping down the sides of the piston where the ringlands are damaged and increasing the pressure in the crankcase. Basically, the damaged ringlands are stopping the piston rings from sealing properly, it's a common problem with 4es.
samcole
Thanks for everyone's help. Was dreading a mojor problem but needed to hear other opinions be for I ripped her apart. Anyone got an idea of the easyest way to fix and what parts I will need. So I no weather it will be easier to get another motor

rwdrev
dam mate you where really unlucky for it to snap at a bar yeah, but i think it had a hard life, i heard later on from a boy who got a spin in it 2 owners ago and said it was rapid, then i gave it abit, and then went td04 at a bar, didnt go down too good, lol.
