  1. Looking good mate, I'll definetely be popping into the thread now and again to keep an eye on what becomes of the old girl! It's been an awesome car for me and I'm sure it will for you too, I unfortunately couldn't put the time into it that she deserved nor could I really justify the cost to get her how I wanted! That said though I was very sad to see her go, thankfully I picked up my RX8 tonight so I've got a new toy to try and keep me entertained; I can't believe how different it is compared to the Glanza though it's just the biggest system shock in the world!

    Take it easy mate.

  2. Looking for a little advice on the subject of a personal injury claim and what to do!

Basically last July I had a small bump (5-10mph) with a guy who pulled out at a junction in front of me, he should of waited but made no effort in stopping and instead proceeded to cut the corner and driving head on into me. The insurance have been dealing with it since then and only now am I starting to get anywhere with them. They have just re-instated my NCB and I am waiting for his insurance to refund my insurance with my excess that was subtracted from my cash in lieu settlement. I have overwhelming evidence to prove its his fault, from pictures detailing the position of his car to a witness statement who has said he has repeated the same maneuver time and time again. He actually himself didn't think he was in the wrong and even said he was injured in the process and tried to make a claim, this claim was dropped after his solicitors realised he didn't have a leg to stand on.

Now this is where I come to where I need some advice, I myself genuinely did suffer injury from the accident.. Or at least I believed I did seeing as I uncharacteristically developed a pain in the top part of my leg, severe enough to give me a limp for 2-3 weeks.. Something I can only assume was from the effort I put in to the brake peddle to try and avoid the incident in the first place. Everyone told me that I should make a claim, but unfortunately for myself being my first incident I decided not to simply do what every other person does despite probably having more grounds for it than anyone else. I did speak to a solicitor about it roughly 3 weeks after the incident occurred, they did say I have a basis to make a claim but my injury had to persist on for longer than 4 weeks before they where eligible to make a claim against his insurance. At this moment in time I was going to go to the doctors and have my leg examined which is something I haven't done since it happened and still haven't for that matter, this is due to the fact that I can't stand doctors due to having had some bad experiences with them in the past and I did start to see improvement after the 3 weeks, if I hadn't of I'd definitely have gone for fear of long term injury. It took about 6 weeks for my leg to fully heal, which I can only assume was muscular damage although I'm no physiotherapist! I didn't want to effect the outcome of my insurance claim by making a personal injury claim, being as I am a new driver with only 1yr experience it was imperative that I got my first years NCB, coupled with the fact that I didn't want to be someone else claiming off the insurance companies and another person increasing our premiums I have never taken this further.. I have however decided that I have made a mistake, this is purely down to the fact that I have been arse raped by my own insurance company and they have increased my premium by some £500, despite having 1yr NCB and the incident being declared in my favour as non-fault.. Some of this increase is simply down to inflation, but having done quotes with and without the incident occurring its now costing me £500, and will do every year that I have to declare it for between 3-5 years (It seems to vary dependant on insurance).

The big question is this, despite having not been to the doctors or trying to pursue this claim earlier or sooner.. Do I have any grounds to try and make a claim now? If I do claim what effect if any would this have on my insurance both now and in the future?

Sorry for the long post and I appreciate your time and advice, thanks again!

  3. I'm in the same boat at the moment as I'm struggling what to buy the Mrs's! Decided on getting a couple sexy bits of ladies under garmentary ;). M&S have a good selection and apparently they're actually comfortable to wear (SO I'M TOLD!). They do bigger sizes too although thankfully I don't have that problem! Figleaves seemed good and La Senza also, perhaps worth a look.

If nothing else its fun to look ;)

  4. I have had mine not long since release and its a great phone, mine does suffer from signal issues and I've not a clue if its any better! A decent case goes a long way though and there is a shit load to choose from. Only thing I would say is that my mates just got a Desire HD from HTC and I think if I was in the market again I'd have to seriously consider that.. The biggest blow against it though is that the Retina Display on the iPhone 4 blows anything else out of the water.. Its awesome!

Oh yeah, definitely Jailbreak it! I can't believe I never did my original 3G, it just opens up the phone to do 100% more than it did originally! That said I'm on contract, I don't think I could stomach paying one up front :(

  5. unless u live on a hill just leave it in gear mate in winter.. save yourself the hassle!

I know mate, I've been doing that every time I've washed it recently as obviously its more likely to freeze.. It just did it of its own accord last night though so looks like I'll have to do it throughout the merry season :).

  6. Missed my train into work this morning, bloody handbrake cable had frozen up like it did last Winter.. To rub salt into the wound I've got two new ones in my wardrobe at home, I've just not had time to fit them! :). Full kettle of water and crawling round on my hands and knee's with a heat gun had them freed off mind so it could of been a whole lot worse.

Nobody to blame but myself really, just fancied a rant :D

  7. I hate you! :p

Been looking at JDM DC2 'tegs for a month or so now and I really want one! How do you find it compared to your Glanza, maybe you could tease me a little? :D

Where did you end up finding it? Looks like a really nice one, I'm on the DC2 Integra forum and there always seems nice ones coming up on there. How much more is insurance then?

  8. LIES LIES LIES LIES LIES LIES LIES LIES LIES!!!!

Either your mate is running utter garbage tyres or his geometry is all over the place or he is just an idiot behind the wheel.

Sorry if I seem like I'm being a wank, but its retarded comments like that which boil my piss. My car has 100hp more than his and I can drive it fast in rain or shine. I know guys running 500+ hp in a 200sx and they seem not to suddenly crash when a bit of drizzle falls from the sky. The Accelerator pedal is NOT an on/off switch. Its progressive. Like driving a starlet, if you mash the pedal down in the wet it'll wheelspin its brains out, do it going round a bend the car will understeer. In a 200 its the rear wheels that spin and when you add directional load, it oversteers. its Simple physics

They key thing to realise is that driving a RWD car is different to a FWD car, if you understand this and take your time to learn the car and adjust your driving habits. I've now had a 280-300hp S13, an S2000 and an S13 with 380+hp... I won't lie, I've had a few spins on the road, all caused with me dicking about and now respecting the car. The 180 has taught me total respect though. One of the first nights I got it, I had the wheels spinning in 4th gear in the rain...

Sorry if I touched a nerve mate I didn't mean to piss anyone off and for what its worth I think 200's are AWESOME cars, I don't own one nor have I ever claimed to so I can only speak from my experience but my opinion remains the same.. You may well be able to get grip into the car so that they are more drivable, but me personally I don't like the idea of having to find that 'Sweet' setup just so I can have confidence with the car and as you've already said, physics is what cause them to behave as they do and you may well be able to make them better of which my mates is MUCH better than his original one which was written off, but they're still going to oversteer on power which for me at the moment isn't what I'm looking for, but in the future when I've got more experience who knows!

  9. My best mate has a lovely S14A which he has spent alot of money on over the last couple years.. Mainly because he's not had to pay out for it as its been off the road, purely because the last one he had (S14A) he wrote off rather badly on a wet night on the way home from work, he managed to find a rolling shell without engine to which he transplanted his old one. The one he has now is nice though as I said, about 280bhp from what I can gather but he's spent money on suspension mostly and it has larger brakes from when he got it. Its a really nice car and I like the idea of owning one.. BUT I don't like the idea of sliding all over the place, which they do ALL of the time in the wet. They are controllable however and he has developed alot of confidence in controlling it, but I like the idea of knowing when I want to go faster I might not die!

Depends on what you want really, 200SX's are cheap to modify, quick, comfortable and to be honest SUPREMELY good value for money.. That said you really have to want a car you have to treat with respect especially when its wet and unfortunately they do cost alot more to run than a Starlet but then again most other performance cars do!

Integra however.. Thats a whole other ball game, I want one! :D

  10. lol, I'm a noob as far as car electronics go although I can solder pretty good.

I already have a rear fog, so is it just a case of re-soldering the supply to the fog to the second terminal on the bulb holder and getting a dual filament bulb?

  11. Hey, just saw that you wired up your rear foglight into the light cluster.. I've seen glanza179's pictures in his build thread but its still not totally clear to me laugh.gif. Can you help any further?

    Thanks in advance bud smile.gif

    Ash.

  12. Thanks for the comments, its great to be back driving her again and she's better than ever now!

The cost of the headlights was £70 from my local Toyota garage, thats including VAT but per side so basically £140 for two new units :D.

  13. Well I am pleased to say, after over a month since the accident I have JUST tonight got my car back! With regards to the insurance, I got a pay out as a 'Cash in Lieu of Repairs' settlement as apparently they where struggling to source a replacement bonnet and the cost of the repairs including bodywork repair and spraying had made the repair uneconomical, consequently then they wanted to write the car off... Bullshit! The car literally needed a new bonnet, front bumper crash/support bar which is purely designed to absorb the impact anyway and the front bumper needed respraying. With this in mind we negociated on the cost of what it'd cost me for repairs and I took the cheque for the ammount they offered me. With the money in one hand I checked in at my local Toyota dearler where it became evident that while the bonnet wasn't in the UK, it could be ordered in within 4 days at a cost of £185 including VAT! While I was there then I decided to get a few other things, this would include two new headlights to replace my old faded ones, a new crash bar, new front emblem/badge and some clear indicator lens's.. Needless to say the parts, including the bonnet landed within 3 days! At which point I spoke to a friend of mine who does accident repairs and has his own bodyshop, we decided that the car needed the front bumper doing, the new bonnet spraying obviously and the wings to make it look right.. Then the doors would need blending.. Basically we talked some and he came back with a good price to do what I needed done PLUS the rear quaters and rear bumper which had a scuff here and there. I also managed to source an OEM front lip which I managed to get my mate to spray up for me too..

Consequently then my car has almost had a full respray along with new headlights, OEM front splitter and clear indicator lens's.. The car looks awesome! My mates done a great job and the front end looks 200% better.

In the meantime I haven't had an admission of liability, but my insurance are confident after a witness statement I recieved that its only a matter of time.. Which is just aswell because my insurance re-newed last week and they RAPED me for my premium as until prooven otherwise the accident is my fault, they have agreed to refund me the difference and honor my no claims as and when this is settled though.

Here is a quick pic taken on my phone, the car needs a wash and a good vac.. Its wet with a combination of bodyshop dust, but it still looks great .

  14. Still arguing the toss with my insurance over my car, I've had the car back from the garage and its just nestled safely in my garage now until they decide what to do as they've still not come up with a resolution! They have agreed as mentioned earlier that the repair wasn't uneconomical due to obtaining replacement components, so they said they'd settle on a price for the car to which it has taken over a week again this is because its an import and values of which are hard to gauge.. Anyway, they got a value for it from an independent then rang me back up and said that it should be economical to repair, so now they're resubmitting the case to the engineers! Total piss take.. In the meantime I've assessed the damage myself and it really does only need a bonnet, the front bumper would re-spray but I'm after getting a new one if I can!

Really pissing me off not having a car, and they wont even give me a hire car because its not being repaired.. Beginning to think that as honest as a person as I am, I would legitimately be able to claim damages because getting around at the moment is costing me a fortune!

    Keep yall posted ;)

  15. I'm not quite sure who's insurance will be liable although I think mine will be claiming off his personal insurance.. It is definetely him at fault though, he didn't stop at a junction and just pulled straight out and thankfully my insurance understand this to be the case now too so hopefully it'll all go as it should and I can get on with getting the car repaired. I've seen the bonnet on eBay aswell, seems abit dear though and I may aswell get a carbon culture bonnet :).

I'm as shocked as everyone when they said it could be written off, its purely cosmetic the damage but its simply by the sounds of things down to the lack of replacement components.. Thats why its probably going to be better going for a cash in lieu of repair with my insurance, who hopefully will pay for the repairs I get done personally so long as they deem it more economical!

  16. I was hugely shocked when they said it couldn't be repaired economically, its only a bonnet and a bumper and the bumper could probably just be repaired. They have said if I can find a bonnet they may well be able to oversee the repair so I'm going to stick a wanted ad up, not seen any up recently! The cross member is fine though, its only superficial damage perhaps bar the radiator but the mechanic who did the valueation said that it only has a few bent fins.. That could probably be said of every 14 year old car still on the road! As I said I will more than likely buy the car back, its been absolutely faultless for me and its to good to go to salvage, not to mention it'd definetely end up back on the road anyway. I am going to try and find a bumper and bonnet, and I might even just go for a Varis bumper of Iddy seeing as they're on group buy!

  17. After owning my car less than a year and my license for less than 6 months my car currently could be written off due to an uneconomical repair.. Why? Because a pizza delivery man decided while making a delivery last week not to stop at the junction which I was about to turn into, instead he decided not to slow down or look before navigating it, only to clip the apex on the wrong side of the road and continue into the front of me head on. To say I was PISSED is the understatement of the century. My insurance's approved garage has confirmed that the car needs a new bonnet and front bumper, they have also said that the radiator has a couple bent fins but is sealing fine, they said the headlights are scuffed although I have no idea why because the impact was nowhere near them, they also mentioned the aircon for some reason but that again I'm told is working and sealing fine.

The insurance company is currently reviewing the worth of my car, although with it being an import they are struggling to put an accurate value on it.. I'm waiting to see what they come back with before deciding what to do, although I think I'll just buy the car back off them as I know the car only has superficial damage. The main reason why they have deemed it uneconomical to repair is because of the fact its a JDM import, they are struggling to get a bonnet and bumper through Toyota.. I geuss thats just the way it goes with this type of car!

  18. Just finished giving the old girl a bath so I thought I had better make an effort and take some more pictures with the Meister R's on. I must say so far I am very impressed although I have done fairly limited mileage the coilovers have totally transformed the standard Glanza's 'Bath tub' handling, its far more chuckable, way more grip and alot more positive through bends.. Totally different car now though so its like having to get used to it all over again! It still rolls a little from the back though so thats the next thing on my list.. Whiteline Rear Adjustable Anti-Rollbar! I may well end up going for an exhaust before that though so we will have to see, still need to fit my HID's, order new headlights, clear front indicators, furb my wheels and the list goes on.. My aims at this momment though are definetely handling, brakes and exterior.

It's a little high still at the momment but I'm going to run it over the weekend, let the shocks settle abit more then lower it down some more next week.. The front seems to be sitting a little higher too which isn't ideal.

    Pics!
