ollie ryan
cracked cylinder?normally crach around the exhaust manifold so look around where the third runner on the manifold is as its highly restriceted there
Preston
its a new cylinder head as the previous garage cracked my last 1 when they fitted my manifold they ripped 1 of the studs out.. i had a good look when it was taken off to skim... could it need a thicker head gasket? ollie ryan
chances are the block is warped thenif its skimmed and everyything is flat then you should have no need for a thicker head gasket so i would say warped block then but i may be wrong
Morph
Sounds like a warped block needs checking with a straight edge no signs of it leaking within the cambelt area and running out near where the leak looks to be?
Preston
how would i sort that then?. get the block skimmed that would mean box off every thing off engine out?
Morph
Yeah would be a total engine out and strip to a bear block to have it skimmed or decked as people call it. Mls gaskets require both faces to be morealess perfect otherwise you get leaks like you have unfortunately dude.
ollie ryan
in other words either repair it and whilst your at it might aswell do a full engine overhaul or buy a second hand engine
Preston
shit... i havent got the money to have that done. any ideas what that will cost at a garage ?
ollie ryan
alot, the cheaper option is buy a second hand engine and put that in
Morph
Quite dear tbh mate as the engine and box have gotta come out and stripped down then you've all the gaskets and bearings to buy tbh there easy engines to work on dude.
