Water leak on back of engine, how many water hoses?

Recommended Posts

I have been starting to drive my car harder now to make any problems show their ugly face (so not to waste a day on track with some stupid problem)

Today as the weather was nice i went for a spin up the valleys with the intention of driving harder to show up any sneaky leaks etc.

To my supprise i managed to spring two leaks :)

1. Looks like the gasket is screwed on the TD04 oil return pipe off the turbo, so just ordered a new one

2. I have sprung a water leak from the back of the engine, are there only two water hoses on the back of the engine, i was having alot of difficulty locating where the water is coming from.

It seems to be coming from the far left corner of the engine on the back, i know the matrix pipe is there but i couldnt feel any water when checking the hose.

Will take the bugger off and inspect the hoses

theres the 2 heater matrix pipes and the one from the water pump that comes round into the thermo housing. defo from the back of the block and not back of water pump?

Its the first time i have seen it leaking, plus its also the first time i have driven hard with this engine, before that i have just been giving the odd 10 secs of boost up the road testing out stuff. Where abouts is the water pump situated, when i was underneath it looked to be dripping off the ridge of the sump where it meets the bottom off the block.

It doesnt leak on idle, great i hope its not the water pump, how hard is it to change?

water pump side then! is it leaking all the time or just on load?

the water pump is the other pulley that runs on the same belt as the alternator (if that makes sense?!?!) if its leaking all the time when running it sounds like it could be the water pump being that side of the engine.
