Anyone in Dundee got a 12mm ring spanner i can borrow? Need to tighten my alternator belt and cant find mine.

Alternators fucked i think mate. Looks like it could be the voltage regulator give it a check though. Jus use a multimeter over the battery with the engine running get someone to rev it for you if the voltage spikes over 14.5 volts its fucked

Its really strange, when its idling if the lights come on, if i put the windows up and hold the switches the lights go off

Ive given all the connections on the alternator a good clean and wd40, ill leave it over night and see how it is in the morning

How did you get on? I can almost garuntee its the voltage regulator thats fucked on the alternator. Basicly its charging too much so when you use the windows this is countering it and draining power so therefore the lights go off.

Hey, I went an hours drive and it came on when the car was warming up, and cooling down, but not while i was driving.

I take it the regulator is inside the alternator? so ill need a whole new unit
