StuDoc 72 Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Alternators fucked i think mate. Looks like it could be the voltage regulator give it a check though. Jus use a multimeter over the battery with the engine running get someone to rev it for you if the voltage spikes over 14.5 volts its fucked Quote
Weyro Posted November 28, 2012 Author Posted November 28, 2012 Its really strange, when its idling if the lights come on, if i put the windows up and hold the switches the lights go offIve given all the connections on the alternator a good clean and wd40, ill leave it over night and see how it is in the morning Quote
StuDoc 72 Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 How did you get on? I can almost garuntee its the voltage regulator thats fucked on the alternator. Basicly its charging too much so when you use the windows this is countering it and draining power so therefore the lights go off. Quote
Weyro Posted November 29, 2012 Author Posted November 29, 2012 Hey, I went an hours drive and it came on when the car was warming up, and cooling down, but not while i was driving. Quote
Weyro Posted November 30, 2012 Author Posted November 30, 2012 I take it the regulator is inside the alternator? so ill need a whole new unit Quote
