scottyb
I know this should probably be in the tech section, but it has me worrying so hoping to get quicker answers here! Mods can move it if preferred though. This morning, as i was driving to work, it felt like my glanza was holding back slightly, like it had lost power. Then on the way home tonight, the engine light came on and it wouldnt go to full boost (just 2 lights instead of 3, like it was on lo boost setting) I pulled over, turned off the car and checked all the boost pipes but it was all ok, then when i turned it back on, it was all ok.I have noticed oil coming out of the breather filter, so wondered if that could be interfering with the leads and spark plugs? Is any one running a catch can with a tmic? And if so how do they have it set up? Also how can you tell if the leads are clip or boot type? Or is it just a case of popping them off and having a look? And whats the difference between 8mm and 8.5mmFinal question lol, is it a pain in the arse to fit an fmic and retain the air con? The car is totally standard apart from ssqv, panel filter and exhaust.Cheers! Edited April 19, 2013 by scottyb
AdamB
How much oil is coming out the breather? Its an indication of ring/ringland failure.Try doing a diagnostic check to see what the fault code was mate Edited April 19, 2013 by AdamB
scottyb
Im not too sure tbh, it looks like a lot, but it has built up over a wee while, im gonna try and get photos tomorrow, clean it up and then check again. Whats ringland? Lol, sorry, im a total noob when it comes to internals etc.
Taggy
welcome to starlet ownership, they tend to blow up more often than most people have hot dinners...
scottyb
Its done it for ages now, as in over a year i think. Surely a failure would be quicker than that? If it goes pop.....then it may be forged time! Lol
Taggy
Lol sorry there not that bad if you dont mess about with them if its cracked piston ringland (bit of metal on the sides of the piston) you will notice exhaust gasses in your head, if you take your oil cover off after just turning the engine off, do you get exhaust smoke in there? Watch this video i made of it, its also happened to mine.
