Chrishoughton1989
When timing ep91 4efte do you time it up to the 0 mark on the plastic cam belt cover and then do ignition timing to 10 degrees before tdc ? Thanks.
Chrishoughton1989
Also does it matter about oil pump position ? Some people mention that about timing it up ?
AdamB
Correct, no the oil pump has a marking pointer on it thats all
Chrishoughton1989
Good good. And the tensioner seems to tension it for you? Looking through the tiny hole in plastic lol. Just let it tension then nip bolt up ?
Flaminsam
Yes the tension is set up by the spring. Also when setting your igniton timing dont forget to bridge e1 and te1 in your diagnostic socket. This will "lock" the timing and allow you to set the timing exactly.
Chrishoughton1989
Can you explain more please on bridging ports ?
AdamB
Get a paperclip, stick one end in E1 and the other end in TE1.
Chrishoughton1989
What then once timing set remove paper clip ? Or just connect up and remove straight away? Also does a light come on to say its in diginistic mode?
Flaminsam
The engine management light will flash repeatedly to say its in diagnostic mode. The timing should be set with the paper clip in the two terminals. Once the timing is set and the distributor is tightened, stop engine and remove paperclip. Simples :-)
