jtaylor1990
Hi guys. All of a sudden my GT has decided that it wants to idle at about 500 rpm. At the same time the auxillary belt that runs the alternator screeches its tits off. I know theres a minor oil leak which may have collected on the belt so that may explain the screeching however the low idle...? Any thoughts? Maybe an Idle control valve fault or something like that? Thanks, Josh
jtaylor1990
Oh and it only idles low after its warmed up. As u can imagine at such a low idle speed, any power consuming components (lights, heater blower etc) cause the revs to drop lower thus causing screeching of the belt
andy91145
Mine is doing the exact same thing, I'll temporarily removed one of the vacuum pipes behind the intake manifold which means it now idles at around 800-900 when warm, if you want to try it its the long black plastic pipes that goes to the carbon canister? then then to the intake has a small rubber bit of the end so it bends and fits. If I put the pipe back on it will idle lumpy as at 500rpm when warm
