immobiliser problem

My mates had his gt sitting off the road for a few weeks went to start her up today and the doors were slow at locking so I tried jump leads and they lock and unlock as normal now but the imobiliser still won't work when I press the fob so the car wont start, any one any ideas what could be causing this?
