Hi Martin remember seeing your gt at td when I was getting my old v mapped.

Also about the pictures,  I added a how too on one of the "issue uploading pictures"  threads somewhere when photobucket fucked up, itsin the general section.

ah did you, it was there a long time! thanks mate ill have a look after my work and finish the thread, here is my youtube channel in the mean time

  7. thought id start a new post on my car since photobucket ruined the other 1, will keep it short and sweet.

bought the car back in 2011 from a guy on the tgtt forum LOOKING TO GET BACK IN CONTACT WITH HIM THINK HES NAME WAS HUBBY GT?

anyway cars came along way since then, i bought the car with a pretty good spec to start with, forged td04/td05 with alot of good bits on the car.

ive since got a 5e engine built from pekitu racing in malta, and what an engine it is! the car then went down to tuning developments after the engine had been shipped

over to me for them to fit everything, i also had zisco make me an exhaust + turbo kit +inlet

it was at tuning developments for a very long time! that long i lost any interest in the car, but put all that behind me and skip forward a while and the cars back and running

here is some engine pics before i continue

Could be a couple of things really could be that the Stepper that holds the sandwich plate down has vibrated loose, or the two mating surfaces weren't perfectly level and clean. II it definitely Comin out in between the plate, because Crossland filters are absolutely garbage

I've had problems with loads of bolts coming loose , the filter it's self is loose now that I just checked I can twist it round with my hand  It looks like the filter coming loose has caused the ring to burst ? I haven't had it off yet so don't know if it has a gasket on it , what filter do u reccomend using next ?thnx for the feedback

  9. So you need to buy yourself some discs from a 1.7 cdti Astra:

    -280mm

    -60mm centre bore

    -They allow 4x100 stud fitment

Next there's a bit of machine work that needs to be done

    1. Take 2.5mm off total outside diameter to make them 277.5mm

    2. Take 1.5mm off the inside face of the disc, but only where it mates to the hub ie NOT THE PAD CONTACT SURFACE. This is so the disc sits central to the caliper

    3. You need to make to a spacer to sit in the centre of the disc, to make the central bore match your Glanza/GT (60mm>55/54.1mm respectively). It's the same kind of thing as spigot ring but it sits flush on either side of the disc.

You need some late spec ST185 calipers and carriers with pad clips. These are single piston, and more effective than the ST165/early ST185/Levin Twinpots

Buy some £20 OEM late spec ST185 pads (the early spec ones for the twins don't fit these) and you're off! http://www.ukstarletclub.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/smile.png

I've tried these brakes at Donington Park in the GT and they are crazy, didn't get them to fade even a bit and I was driving hard! Awesome on the road too with really instant pedal feedback too (after they've been bled once or twice) even without braided lines! (which still by the way fit http://www.ukstarletclub.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/wink.png ) Just make sure you don't lock up haha http://www.ukstarletclub.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/tongue.png

I'm pretty sure the above information is correct but I'll check it all when I get home from Uni today

Does the 277.5 disc still fit ok with the twin pots ? I've got celica twin pots with Astra discs but the discs are 250 mm :s I have no idea about this break set up as they were on my car when I bought it, but I've followed these steps with the machining the disc hoping they fit ?
