  1. It was my civic he beat :p

I got pumped off a few cars that day, including a turbo civic running less power, I was misfiring all over the place during 4th gear +

I shall return for some revenge next crail day! ;)

  2. Well after a few emails exchanged, with an unsuccessful outcome, I have referred the matter to my Credit Card Company to initiate a charge back.

Having been told that the engine received a full rebuild, I've had a mechanic confirm, they used all the old parts during the rebuild.

Their excuse 'we did not think you wanted the piston rings replaced'.

My invoice totalled £680.00, new bearings etc were included on the invoice however these were not fitted. Absolutely discussed by the lack of professionalism & deceit from a well established company.

Regarding chargebacks you really need to be careful here. I want you to succeed with it so i'll give you as much info as possible.

When and if your credit card company investigates and charge smiths engineering back. Smiths engineering CAN dispute that and actually charge your credit company back. Then your card company can re-chargeback under grounds.

So what you need is proof of EVERYTHING. Invoices, discussions, emails. Your mechanic neighbour can help a great deal by being a 3rd party specialist who investigated your engine and established all old parts were used therefore showing smith's didn't carry out what was required. So have your neighbour officially stamp that, and have that ready as proof. Any recorded conversations (or if you can record any conversations) would be of help.

With enough proof you should successfully be able to get your money back.

But before you do any of that. I would suggest contacting smiths, explaining the situation and what you have found and telling them that unless they fix everything and carried out the work they should have, you will make a claim under the section 75 consumer protection act. Were you have all the proof needed to make the claim and it will incur extra costs on them as well as possibility of brininging their company into disrepute and loosing customers.

Record that conversation with them also ;)

Best of luck bud, let me know how it goes.

  3. Hi :)

After a frantic search online past 2 months to try and find track time for japfest I finally came across your topic. I was hoping that I could make a sneeky purchase for anyone that is selling their track time late due to unforseen circumstances :( I had to sell mine last year so I know how it feels!

Also as a thank you if you let me know where your club stand is i'll bring over my film equipment and do a feature to include in this years short film produced by Wolf Star Pictures. The previous Japfest film and managed to hit 37,000 views. So we plan to make this year even better!

    thanks for your consideration

drop me a PM or email djairwolf@hotmail.com

    thanks :)
