  1. I yeah it's got low comp pistons!

    I thought it could of been the catch tank lines, so I disconnected fro catch tank and let them free, they're not blocked either!

    I've got 2 breathers coming off the rocker too!

    Don't suppose any of you could get a picture of where the dipstick bolts next to altenator? I really think it's something so silly!

    Also had another dipstick which I tried and the bracket for it was different than the other one :s

    What a right pain in the ass!

    Did a compression test today

    Cylinder 1 - 130-135 psi

    Cylinder 2 140 psi

    Cylinder 3 135-140 psi

    Cylinder 4 135-140 psi

    I've got a forged 4e which hasn't done much mileage since re build - maybe 2k!

    Not sure exactly what sort of results I should be looking for?

    It's 100% leaking from dipstick. Does seem to sit a little off, I've got 2 dipsticks and one bracket is different to the other :s

    Glanza has decided to piss some oil out all of a sudden!

    Originally thought it was from the dipsticks as it had come loose, took alternator etc off, new o ring and sealed it back up. Everything washed down and was fine on idle.

    Took it for a spin and it started pissing oil out again, I've done the dipstick about twice since then and still having the same problem, originally thought it was the piping to the oil catch tank being to small and popping it out again, so washed it all off did the dipstick again and just left the piping on the rocker cover free to breathe.

    Took it for another spin and it's done it again :@ it all seems to originate from the dip stick.

    Maybe thinking head gasket has gone? Water level and color fine in radiator and no murky white oil on the oil cap, so not sure yet.

    Anyone ever had this sort of issue before or any other ideas to throw into the light :s

  4. In for reshimming tomorrow (: I had a spare 4e engine sitting at home so just gonna use the shims outs of that saves me a little money (: hopefully be quiet as anything then ha

    Been looking to see what they should be at, found this from tgtt that a member posted -

    4E-FTE Valve clearance with the engine cold are:

    Intake 0.17mm - 0.23mm

    Exhaust 0.27mm - 0.33mm

    Any one have an idea? Seen you've posted on my other thread Colin, I could only find a manual for a 5e paseo :s

    going to be reshimming my 4e in the next couple days as it's very tappy top end, had the inlet cam out and retensioned that which no effect ): so left to believe it must be the valve clearnaces! Engine has done about 2000 since rebuild.

    Just wondering what should the valve clearnaces be? Is there any info/guides on this?

    Any info will be great!

  6. It's tappy throughout the rev range just doesn't sound nice atall ): I started my other forged V up and it's silent in comparison! Been working flat out so ain't had the chance to have a proper look! Might be down to shims like you said!

  8. Recently noticed the engine is very loud, it's got a continuous tap which goes with the revs, it sounds like it's from the top end, no loss if power or anything like that just very noisy and tappy. I started up mt other Glanza and this one was quiet as anything!!

    Any ideas would be appreciated!

    Pulled out of a petrol station went to select 2nd and I had nothing, then it would come back and then just go again like there was nothing there, it started doing it on 4th and then reverse. 1st 3rd and 5th are fine! Now I can't select reverse atall and 2nd and 4th sometimes I can't select, it moves like it should be in gear but just have nothing!

    Any ideas or help would be really appreciated!

    My car Central locking just keeps clicking constantly, it just clicks and clicks in both doors and now it won't lock the passenger side and the lock switch inside doesn't work but works to unlock? Tried locking unlocking and the button, battery off and on and it still just keeps clicking!

    Any ideas would be great!

    Looking for a speedo cable, got ep91, using a kph to mph converter, not sure if i need a different cable to use with that or not :S



    and also looking for some front fog lights, pretty sure its an 98 spec bumper (bigger fog lights??)
