  1. Hello people,

    I have a slight problem that has started recently; Iâ??m very happy with the car at the moment, and apart from the following it drives and pulls lovely. All of the mods have been on there for at least 2 months (most of them for at least a year).

    When I have been driving my car for about 45mins, if I come to a stop and have to pull away the car will hesitate and try to cut outâ?¦ after a while it will definitely die and itâ??s pretty embarrassing. But when you leave it for a good hour or more, itâ??s fine again until it all starts happening again. Now, itâ??s not a misfire, but it just dies. I have changed the distributor and rotor, the plugs are fairly new, and the leads are working fine. I have tried another MAP sensor which I know works fine (I am in the fortunate position of having two Glanzaâ??s at my disposal), and there are no fault codes to give me a clue as to what this might be. The fuel cut defender is also wire in correctly (directly to the ECU so inside the car) because it has been awesome up until nowish. Itâ??s weird because this is an intermittent fault, as in it only does it when itâ??s been running for quite a while - but ultimately it means my car has a range of anywhere within about half an hour, which is nice.

    If anybody has any useful input it would be much appreciatedâ?¦

    Oh, and to try and avoid any of the usual first questions, the spec list for the engine reads as follows;

    1996 Glanza V

    NGK iridium plugs

    Magnecor blue leads

    GT spec CT9 turbo

    Meshed intake

    HKS actuator (1bar)

    Jam Racing FCD

    FSE fuel pressure regulator

    Tuning Developments fuel pump

    Tubular manifold

    Gutted OEM cat

    Japspeed eggsauce

    Japspeed front mount intercooler

    Samco coolant hoses

    Open breather

    Thanks

    Kevin

  2. I've got to do this again because my previous feedback was fine but...

    I've had this on my car now for a good 20 months, and for the past 3 I've been running 1 BAR boost (even tried 1.2 for a bit and that felt savage) and I'm in love with it again. I only got it as a replacement initially, but having put together the bits needed to actually have some fun, and finally turn up the boost it's brilliant. The engine bits on their own are as follows;

    GT Spec turbo

    Meshed intake

    HKS actuator

    Tubular stainless manifold

    Modified down-pipe

    Japspeed exhaust

    Japspeed intercooler

    No BOV

    New OEM rad

    Samco rad hoses

    Modified breather

    NGK plugs

    Magnecor Leads

    FSE fuel pressure regulator

    Nick Jones fuel pump

    Jam Racing fuel cut defender

    Boost starts to come in nice and early but builds up progressively and comes in so smoothly - and the noise is immense. Now, I'm not sure what power it has now, and to be honest I don't think I really care too much but I'm very, very happy with it as it is for now. All I'd like next in terms of engine tuning, is a proper ECU and some more boost, but that'll have to happen when funds allow again I guess.

  3. High is 0.6 bar/9 psi and low is 0.4 bar/6 psi. I removed my restriction as soon as I found out about it and it seemed to come on a bit quicker and a lot stronger - gave a touch more boost too. It's a worth while thing to do because as the others have said you can just drive sensibly when you're not in the mood. . .

  4. Hey Jean,

    Hows things? Freya's EK4 should be going to a new home on Saturday if all goes well. . . and she's looking to get a Glanza, preferably in white. She ideally wants one with all the basics on.

    You'll see her on Friday so have a chat with her first before you go getting rid of it.

  5. It's about time that I did this so here it goes;

    I ordered the GT Spec hybrid when my standard CT9b decided to slowly but surely give up. It turns out that Enzo is indeed a good chap and easy to talk to when you've got questions - the turbo itself looks sweet by the way when you first get it out of the box. I put on the new turbo and took it for a spin and was confused as it felt the same but didn't run out steam high up. I need to explain that this was on the standard poo actuator (I was waiting for mine to come through the post), and I suddenly realised that this was while it was boosting to just 0.5 bar - this felt the same as my old turbo which always crept up to 0.8 bar. I finally got the actuator on and holding a steady 0.7 bar of boost and it feels alot better. I keep increasing it up slightly to try and get it to 0.8 bar until I get to do some more shopping.

    Considering that I'm currently on a stock manifold, gutted cat and standard exhaust it still hits full boost (0.7 bar so far) by just before 3500 rpm. Anything within 3500 to 6500 ish and I'm consantly grinning. I've never been able to use pretty much all of the available revs because there wasn't any point before. The other thing is that I used to suffer from really bad boost creep, even when it was completely stock (minus the boost restriction) and that has completely gone too, even with not much on the inlet side.

    All in all I'm a very happy bunny and feel that I have made the right choice. I just can't wait to sort out the entire exhaust and up the boost and fuel.

  6. I had my girlfriends 16x8 Rota Cups on my Glanza for a few weeks, they look rather deep because the dish is like 5 inches. But I couldn't quite get full lock and it scrubbed more often when you hit certain bumps. This was with Tein springs - it did look sweet but I didn't like driving it as much.

  7. I'm sure it's for 3 days (2 nights). Can I join you lot because my girlfriend will be on the Yaris Club stand and my Glanza might feel left out and get moody?

    And if you get on the stand, do you need some kind of pass?
