What are the best ways to clean all the oil and crap off the engine bay ?

First thing I need to do is acquire a battery to be completely sure that just the battery is dead and not the alternator or starter, then the mods will begin ! (Hopefully)

The car is blueish silver and I was thinking about painting parts in the bay.

One of the cheaper ideas that I was thinking of is to clean up and paint the engine bay, any colour recommendations ? (I know that you have to get VHT paint )

There are a lot of things that I should buy for it but first I need a new battery as it has decided not to start !

I highly doubt I'll afford alloys, I do have some slightly bigger steelies that would fit but only three !

Hi all, as some may remember I did start a thread last year but to my disappointment I never actually got the Starlet. But this should be different. I now have been given it, a 1998 Starlet Solida and have no idea what to really do to it as I have an extremely low budget. So far I have got a VW Golf splitter that I need to cut to size. But that's about it Please reply with any possible ideas I can do. Thanks
