  1. Anyone have any experience with a gearbox refurb? All sorts of noises coming from gearbox area, aswell as a leak from a previous attempt at refurbing it.

    Any one got a price they paid for a good refurb?

    3rd gear doesnt really like engaging, crunches quite often.

    Doesnt like going into 1st/2nd at stand still, but i believe this to be release bearing problem.

    But yeah, any recommendations, places to get parts etc?

    All help appreciated.

    Just getting my little starlet back on the road and I really need some new wheels.

    Found some nice drifts in 16x8 with 195 40 16 tyres, will these go on my 98 v with no hassle?

    Currently on springs but want to get my self some coilys at some point this month!

  3. 150 psi across all cylinders, both breathers are going to atmosphere with filters on them! Plugs don't show any signs of burning oil.

    I drove it for a few minuites it didn't pop out, but when I launched off some lights it blew up straight away!

  4. Hi guys,

    My starlets been in my family for around 7 years now, and she's coming up to the 75k miles.

    I done an oil and filter change like every year (regardless of miles) used good quality 10w 40 fully synthetic oil & a blue print oil filter (aprently oe spec)

    So next day after oil and filter change I noticed oil all over the cam/aux belts, immediately assumed that I f*×ked up, and checked I hadn't left anything loose, which I hadn't!

    So I got it up on a ramp at a friends garage and we noticed that the dip stick tube had come out of the block, further investigation found that the 12mm bolt that holds it in at the top was loose, a rather hopeful but cautious me put it back in with a new seal and tightened the holding bolt.

    Few days went past were I drove the car steadily, and it held up a treat, until of course I decided to give it the beans off the lights!

    Oil pressure light came on when I got home so I popped the bonnet, sure enough oil everywhere... again 😧

    Again, coming from dipstick tube, but this time it's tight.

    Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

  5. Okay, I think I know the problem here, I just want to assure myself I'm not going to waste my time lol.

    Okay so, as title says, my gears don't fully disengage when I dip the clutch.

    So basically I was trying to show off and make some noise in front of some friends... dipped the clutch while in 2nd gear, and as it got high rpm car started pulling away!

    Not bad, but definatly noticeable, and I found it doesn't always happen!

    I have a noise from clutch release bearing ( from a 2 month old bearing) :/

    Would this be the fault here?

    If so someone's posted one in starlet parts for sale section at £260.

    Or is lsd box c52? Sorry if it is, free bump I guess! 😂

  7. Hi guys, I currently have the stock dump valve on my starlet, bolts onto the standard efi pipe. But unfortunately where the plastic has got old it's cracked off and now leaking air, so when It dumps, the turbo is back spooling (instead of one air dump it's more like 4).

    Cars pretty standard, apart from toyoshite manifold and custom exhaust with a laser back box +decat

    Hks mushroom air filter (pointless because it's in the hot bay lol)

    Front mount intercooler

    Now my question is...

    What are the pros and cons of having a dump, as far as my understanding:

    Pros: sounds awesome:D

    Cooler air to inlet

    Cons

    Slightly laggier (if that's even a word)

    Bonus question-

    Better on or off? :)
