Just bought myself a Starlet 1992 EP80 1.0 GL, literally 5 hours ago... When buying I could not smell fumes, car seemed all fine, but it had a nearly empty tank. It does drive fine, however I think more fuel disappeared on the fuel gauge than I expected, 30 miles seemed to draw between 1/8 and 1/4 of the tank. But that could just be the gauge, can't be sure on a car from 1992. Anyway, I filled the tank just after purchasing, driven about 30 miles, and then upon getting out of the vehicle I could smell petrol. After about 3 hours at a friends house, I went back to the car and could still smell fumes, so slightly worried. I'll get underneath it and check for any leaks tomorrow if I can whilst it's still bright, but having never owned a Starlet or anything similar before, is there anything specific I should be looking for? What should I be looking for that could potentially be a huge job? and also what should I be looking for that should be obvious? I absolutely have to drive it to a job tomorrow, so can't get it checked straight away, which I know is a bit silly. I'm hoping the smell will be gone tomorrow, could just be that I filled the tank to the top.
Thanks
