Spotted a little silver n/a with some gold alloys. Possibly Calibre. Had some square plates and it was parked outside Jeodan in Tewksbury industrial estate
Hey dude! That would be my Starlet parked at Joedan. Very simple N/A with a few minor mods. Hope you like it!

Me being an idiot and posting up before searching properly.
I guess these are what I am looking for? -
Any one know where you can buy some EP91 brake pad retaining clip?? If so, could you please provide a link if available?

Carrying on my thread found in 'Braking' http://www.ukstarletowners.com/topic/102201-clicking-and-clattering-noises/ I've come to believe to that the issues with the strange noises are not from the brakes.
I put my car up on stands this afternoon to change the front strut top mount and dust cover and noticed that when I detach the strut from the knuckle and move it from left to right it produced the strange clattering/clicking sound that I had issues locating. I THINK that the sound is originating from somewhere around the inner CV joint.
Would anyone have a list of things to check and as a result of the checks a list of possible actions?
Thanks. -
Local auto factors. I got a piar for about a tenner delivered, either ebay or mrauto i think
Found it on Mister Auto! Thanks for your help. They are currently going for about £15 quid a per (Monroe).

Hi all,
I have an EP91 N/A which requires the rubber boot/dust cover that goes onto the strut replaced. Can someone please advise me as to where I'd get this part from?
See below image from Google for ref:
Thanks

Can also get the door cards retrimmed, could even do it yourself. Doing that can work wonders.
Not a big fan on the pattern on the seats and door card so that could be an idea. Has anyone done a how 2 on trimming?
Anyways that's my introduction made, lets continue this discussion on my progression blog:

I personally would sort the interior before exterior it's just proper grandad spec 96/98 Glanza interior is a straight swap or you could put any seats in with modification. But that's just my opinion
I'm split between interior and exterior at the moment. Also limited as to what I can do before I get shafted further by the insurance. Not sure about keeping the old original look or to bring it up to 2016 and redecorate the entire interior. Change of colour, seat covers, and new front seats maybe? Got any suggestions for bang for your buck seats?

Looks like a nice base to start on any plans for it ?
At the moment I plan to get all the mechanical side of the car checked and sorted. Then I'll move to tidying up the external cosmetic, followed by the internal cosmetic. Hit me up with them suggestions!

You may notice in one of the above photos that the passenger side headlight has condensation. This has since been fixed by taking the head light unit out, getting some air inside it (I use my air brush) which cleared the condensation. I got rid of most of the old sealant around the perimeter as I noticed that there was a gap where the air being blown inside the unit was coming out. The unit was resealed with some standard white silicone sealant.
The previous Saturday to this post I got the brake pads and discs changed for the front tires.
Below are some photos of the brake change: -
Hi all,
So a little over a month a go I decided to buy my second car to get started with my second year of driving. I decided to go with a Starlet EP91 Solida (44.5K on the clock) that I saw on Gumtree local-ish to me as an introduction to Jap cars and also an excuse to get my hands dirty with. My day job is looking after production machines within a factory so I felt that it would tie in nicely with the mechanical side of car maintenance and repairs.
As this will be a long term project car why not start a progress blog. Will post photos and updates of work carried out etc.. May get a little photo intensive but we all love that. Could get videos too through request? It's not too exciting at the moment but it's a good foundation to start off with. Please feel free to throw suggestions my way! Currently in need of ideas and inspiration.
Specification as of 04/07/2016:
- Ram Air Induction Kit
- M2 Motorsport Exhaust
- 40mm lowering springs (Tein rears, unsure on front)
- Cades Eros Wheels with Nankang NS2's
Below is the car itself (first photo is edited):

Depends how much you want to spend.
Paint the dash and plastics black.
Paint or dye the carpet black
Double din satnav/bluetooth headunit
Indiglo dials
Would bring the interior right upto the modern day....ish
Exactly what I had in mind. Looking at ideas and inspiration at the moment. This forum seems like a good place for it. ;)
Looks a nice little base!
Not sure if there's that much that can be done with the interior, other than the small touches suggested above. However, the front seats are absolutely woeful at supporting you through corners, so I'd suggest looking at picking up a pair of seats from a GT - they won't look 2016 spec though!
Thank you Bluebear.
Doesn't have to be 2016 to be honest. Just had a random thought and idea. Actually don't mind it being grey and blue at the moment. But if I can do anything that adds character and create a theme or some kind then I'd probably head towards that direction.

Just a thought, could it be the wheel catching on the caliper at all?
I fitted some WMS 110% discs and due to the extra width, it'd pushed the caliper out far enough that it was touching the backs of my spokes ever so slightly.
Checked it and it's looking pretty dayum fineeee!
Just out of curiousity. Is the clicking after you've been hearing happening after getting the brakes hot? Usually the pad retaining clips can catch on the disc.
Literally put the brake dics/pads on. Took the car 5 minutes down to the petrol station and back with my windows down. That was when I noticed the noise. Had the windows down on the way to work and it seems fine now. Strange.

Looks a great base start anyway mate! I have a strange soft spot for silver starlets the meshed front grill is a nice touch too, what's the plans then?

Not sure at the current moment dude!
Will get a progression thread going at some point. At the moment just going through all the mechanical side of things. Just recently changed the break pads/discs, next will be the suspension top mount and later in the year/start of next the suspension strut itself.
After that, I think I best look at getting the interior up to 2016 standard (need some inspiration) and a little bit of personal touch? Need some ideas to be honest.

Welcome mate, get a build thread up
Will do!
-
Good news. On the drive to work this morning there were no clicking noise. Will keep an ear out for that.
For the clattering noise anyone know where I can get some top mounts for the front?
-
Thats a no then.
Was just because you had done the brakes incase you had replaced your tires as well maybe would be a stone in your tire.
And yes people have not known that before.
Will take the wheel off and just do another check sometime in the evening this week. May put a some paint on the caliper whilst I'm at it.
Pictures from the change:

You had new front tires lol?
Bought the car a little over a month ago. Couldn't tell you how long ago it was changed.
-
The clicking could be the dust shield behind the disc, mine started doing it until I bent it out slightly
Hmm, I recently just changed the discs and pads so is there a possibility that with the new disc being slightly thicker its fouling on the dust shield? Although this only happens on the one side. Summer is here so I have been recently having my windows down more and noticing these noises. I'm unsure whether the clicking is prior or after the brake change.
-
If the clicking is happening when you've got full lock on, you've got a knackered CV joint.
No, going straight forward. Just clicks every now and then.
-
Hi all,
I think this thread should also be in the suspension/chassis thread.
Need your help with some diagnostic. There's clicking and clattering noises primarily coming from the passenger side of my EP91. I think there's two distinct noise that can be heard. 1st is clattering which I know is from the top mounts. 2nd is a clicking from maybe the passenger front wheel.
Could anyone else suggest things I should also look at?OB
