  1. Annoying that the ep91 na brake pipes are covered right to the back apart from the last inch or so under the rear arch which is the only corroded section.

Are there any premade pipe kits out or an I going to have to make them up myself?

As it just an inch at end of either side rear pipe is it OK to cut the old pipe far enough up the plastic sleeve, remove a small section of the plastic sleeve and put a joiner union on and just make up the bad section ?

  2. Heres some history and details on whats been done on the car while ive had it -

4 owners , Third owner is a friend of mine and before that it was owned by his partners elderly mother from 3 years old. did barely 1000 miles a year in her ownership (mot's to prove)

132,000 miles (is in daily use)

    Fresh mot done on 16/2/2017

power steering manual windows and mirrors

    totally original

toyota handbooks plus history, recipts and paperwork.

clean and tidy inside (non smoker also), updated stereo with aux and usb and sd card connection allows music from sdcard phone or mp3 player.

As a 32yr old mechanic i can tell you Its a lovely solid reliable little car that would be a great runabout, should provide a good few years trouble free motoring as it's been well maintaned and looked after and have done all work needed to keep it right for another good few years - and has had the following recent work done

Recent new parts fitted and work done include - Brand new front section of exhaust includes CAT with recent middle and rear section.

Recent cambelt and auxillary belts and tensioners (All gates brand top quality belts)

    new radiator and red coolant

rear brake pipes have been renewed

New Brakes - new front pads and disks and rear shoes (Pagid brand all round) , rear drums cleaned up and overhauled at same time.

brand new front drivers side brake caliper (toyota part) - (sliders kept sticking on old caliper)

    Recent drivers side handbrake cable

    New wheeltrims

bodywork good for age, paintwork nice and shiny deep red.

Bad points are - (scratch on p/s wing)

dent on drivers rear quarter (has been kicked by vandals but could possibly be pushed out if this bothers you) not that bad, small amount of corrosion on drivers rear wheel arch lip. More pics on request

Engine is ultra reliable never fails to start - very strong quiet and smooth, doesn't leak/burn oil.

can service car with recipts to prove for an additional 40 pound at request

Have been as honest as i can about the car just want it to go to a good home - please contact me to arrange to view or if local i can bring the car to you to view as i use it every day.

Selling as i have inherited a larger four door car for work and also have another starlet project on the go which needs work- cheers

  3. You're right too could have done with the red ones but couldn't get my hands on any these seem to be fine though all the connections are nice and tight, what else could it be?

  4. Thanks for the quick and helpful reply mate, I did yes , I've checked the radio\ CIG lighter mini fuse in compartment under dash and is fine, is there amy other fuses i should check? fuse in new stereo is fine and working in another car, I'm starting to think the battery 12v is live but the ignition 12v doesn't seem to be getting any power even with ign on

  5. So I've had my Red starlet about 6 months now and there are some headunit wiring issues im aware of that i need some advice on.

The old stereo seemed to be connected permenent live, bypassing the need to have the ignition in 'on' postition so the radio could be turned on without keys in, and you have to switch it off by the stereo ( knew it shouldnt be like this) - after removing the stereo i found the following things

someone has fitted this rubbish stereo which had no connector block at the end of its wiring to attach to the cars connector , - rather than cut the cables after the toyota to modern stereo iso lead, they have cut it off BEFORE the toyota blocks soldering it cable to cable!

the wiring all looked fine except the 12v ignition and 12v battery where soldered together hence why no keys where needed to turn radio on

anywho i have cut all the crap out so This now leaves me with the toyota wiring coming from dash with just stripped cables at the end (no block connector)

so what i have done so far is i have fitted a modern iso male plug (to allow easy fit of modern stereo) and i have wired this up to the corresponding colours coming out of the cars dash (which are not like for like colours im aware) so i have used this diagram -

    ToyotaRadioPlugs.jpg

the problem im having is there is still no power whatsoever to the new stereo so i was wondering if any of you could take a look at the photos ive taken below and check they match the connector block wiring,

(only one i can see that dont match the diagram i followed are - ground wire goes from black - black but i have it wired brown - black)

the reason for this is there is only ONE black coming from the dash (which is taped up) and as rear left positive speaker (unused) is black im assuming that is what that wire is for, as there is no brown wire listed on the diagram im assuming the brown is the ground (dash side)

can anyone shed any light on this by having a look and telling me if the brown wire goes into the largest toyota connector coming out the dash if so atleast i know ive got that part right!
