followed by a double sided nail file.... Just agreed valuation of £3500 for the car. All depends on what they asses as salvageable value for the car and want to deduct from the agreed valuation. If it's a low figure then I may keep the car and get it sorted or start collectin parts when I get back from the ring. Blackbird booked, lets go! -

Things have taken a negative turn. I received a letter from the third party on the weekend claiming I was driving in the middle of the road and collided with their client! What the F... Probably standard solicitor spiel but either way, enough to get me worked up. The car was delivered to the garage on Saturday with high hopes but they have no well and truly been slashed. The parts bill / labour bill from the garage has reached £2.5k and this is beyond the insurance companies marker. I'm now waiting for a call from the insurance company to confirm the write-off value and agree terms. I would really need a donor car to make the repairs much cheaper but there may be more value in breaking the car and starting again. I'm not really feeling the love for the car anymore after all this and not really looking forward to the prospect of the additional works quoted by the garage - new steering rack and hub carrier added to the list. As it stands, if the insurance company come back with a decent figure today, I'm going to hire a honda blackbird for the trip. Mark doesn't know this yet but the 1/4 time is 10.3 seconds as standard. That should put a smile back on my face. -

It's a bummer that you've been pished around by Hi-spec, I would have expected better from their reputation. At least you have the fall back of buying the t-sport discs. I'm not hanging around at the moment and will not give in! I have arranged for my car to be delivered to a local car garage today and they are certain they will be able to complete the work in time. As well as that, they are a dastek dealer and will be able to plug into my dastek and tune the car up for me. I would like to buy either a brand new pair of D2 front coilovers or another brand new replacement set in a different brand for the front. Any ideas on where I could just buy a new pair or fully adjustable coilovers at reasonable cost? My car also has no windows in at at the moment because I thought I would have time to put polycarbonate in there. If I'm lucky, and the costs to fix the car come in well within budget, then I'm sure I can get the brown paper bag out, order some zep front fenders and polycarbonate windows and get them fitted by the garage, slipping them some extra cash. That's my positive outlook on this. I'm sure it won't be that easy but there is always a chance. -

Good news so far chaps: 1. Engineer has agreed to my valuations of the car!!!!!!! 2. Engineer has allowed budget of £2k for the work to be carried out before the car would become a write-off 3. Items for replacement so far are: alloy, tyre, 2no suspension struts, complete driveshaft, lower arm, wing, spraying of front bumper, wing and side door. I've contacted a car garage this morning and need to speak to the owner on Monday but there is a good chance they can complete all of the work and map my car while they are at it ;) So chances of making the trip are now swinging back in my favour. Time is now ticking away but I should have another update on Monday. One remaining concern suggested by a friend is that the subframe could be bent. The driveshaft has cut into the subframe by about 1" and if this is the case, then game over. They won't be able to tell until it's on a ramp and inspected. Will keep you all posted. p.s. Trevor on the trading post has offered to drop both driveshafts and a wing off to my house next Thursday. The price is reasonable and it's handy that it can all be delivered at once so I may go for that. Thanks for you offers. -

Update - I have arranged for the insurers to store the car at my house - TODAY! rather than transfer it to their selected garage of choice. They have also commented that it looks like one of the following is going to happen: 1. - most likely - engineer is going to write the car off as cat c or cat d. Me to receive 80% of car value (going to have to watch them like a hawk during this part) 2. - potentially classed as Cat B write-off - the car will have to be crushed but I may be able to liaise with storage company over removing parts from the car. With the car in my possession, this looks promising. I have also sent the pics and video to the insurance company. -

The cam was under my number plate, on the left hand side (when sat in the car), so furthest away from the action. Shame it wasn't on the right hand side. The general consensus seems to be that you guys can pick up that I pulled right over the to left and she was travelling much faster - all good for my pursuit of getting this sorted at the least expense. As for using gods name, I apologise. I failed to leave on the rest of the recording. I spent about 1 minute in my car using clever combinations of SH@@, Fu@@ and very clever, fu@k Sh@t -

cheers everyone. I'm going to be a grouchy bear for the next couple of days+ As you can see, it doesn't capture the speed difference in vehicles as well as I would have hoped and it's hard to judge my speed just before the crash but I wasn't moving anywhere near as fast as she was. -

Thanks Mark / Guys I should know more towards the end of this week. I would be very surprised if a typical car garage could pull it out of the bag in time but we shall see. As for injury, my neck is quite sore today (honest!!) I wouldn't have thought so but it was a fair thud. I managed to come to a standstill in time to read out my username before she spotted me. She didn't even lead iny skid marks, just crack, straight into my sheel / arch and bounced off. I couldn't say anything to her. I was slightly distracted by her low cut shorts and tatoo leading towards the local area but biach - I kept pacing up and down and punching my hand into my palm (steady guys, no puns there) and was / still am so, so pissed off. I've wanted to do a trip like this for years, years. I bought the car using a credit card and have had to buy wisely to keep juggling funds. I'm still determined to go and may have to keep Sabine passenger It could have been a lot worse and I'm quite surprised how the starlet has held up although it may be worse on closer examination when an engineer looks at it. The car has been moved from the compound today to a storage location arranged by the insurer. Then a local selected engineer is going to look at the car and asses the damage i.e. repair or write off. I'll keep you all posted...... -
Now that's the badger! The TVVC instruction show the same setup as your diagram: http://www.greddy.com/img/PHP/products/pdf/693.pdf I'm not sure where the pipe goes to the turbo either? I 've had a good look around the turbo and can only find one pipe to the exhaust and braided lines to the oil filter and one other that leads around the engine into the unknown.... My post may have just got missed on the ttgt but it's nice to make an increasing appearance on this forum. I've stuck with the other fourm because that's where I originally joined many moons ago.

Hi Guys I went to an RR day and the data showed that my boost is getting two different signals, one from the AVC-R control and one from the actuator control. The is also a convern over the fueling for the two boost settings controlled by the avc-r because there is not setup on my car for altering the fuel for each boost setting. In keeping with the ethos of my project, I am keen to get mechanically involved and learn new things and perhaps at the same time simplify things. I have sold the avc-r in favour of using a GReddy TVVC manual boost controller. I have also bought a boost gauge and afr gauge to keep an eye on things. Here are a few links to pictures taken that show the TVVC in my hand and the loose hose connections from removal of the avc-r. The tvvc instructions show connection from wastegate to tvvc to turbo. I have one hose from the wastegate and another from the inlet manifold? Please have a look at the pictures, I would appreciate your feedback: I've thought about just letting the actuator control the boost without the need for the manual boost controller - would that be a good idea as I only really want / need one good boost setting previously mapped at 1.1 bar last year. On the other hand I've read into the subject a bit and have found that the use of a boost controller help eliminate boost creep so maybe I should use the TVVC. Again, any feedback appreciated. My car has been off the road for 5 weeks following my brake converstion to celica GT4 calipers. It is now ready to rock, pending flat battery (doh) and setup of boost control. Here is a pic from the new brake setup: Better pics and write-up to follow after testing Thanks Matt p.s. this was posted on ttgt forum yesterday as well and I haven't had much feedback yet. Hopefully you guys can help otherwise I might just have a play and see how I get on.

managed to get it sorted now, I got an answer on the gtt forum - knock the stud bolts out with a hammer!

Hi Guys I've bought a set of celica GT4 calipers and I'm having difficulty fitting them to my ep82. The spacing is about 3/4mm out of where i need it to be. I cannot move the caliper backwards so need to move the disk forwards to get the right setup. If I move the disk forward, the stud bolts are not long enough for a secure fit (3 turns max). I've got some new longer stud bolts and tried drilling out the existing stud bolts. What a nightmare. The metal is very hard and even with a new set of drills it's taken a couple of hours to get close to getting just one drilled out. There must be an easier way. I've just tried to remove the plate with the 4 stud bolts attached but the nut turns with the axle so I can't get any leverage. I lowered one side of my car to the ground with the wheel attached to keep one side still and but it still turns (I'm sure that's not good). Please help!!!!
