I'm looking for a Glanza for my wife. She sold her first one when pregnant with our son, who is now 3 and a half. Had a nice spec. (Roll cage, front mount, work emotion cr Kai, power fc, meister r's, TRD 1.5 way lsd, miracle x brace, TRD steering wheel, and a few other bits and bobs). Well anyway, we've been looking at new cars for her past few weeks and the few ideas I've suggested to her, that she likes the sound of( Impreza hatch sti, Mazda 3 MPS facelift) the reason she gives for liking them are because they remind her of her old Glanza. So we came to the conclusion tonight that what she actually really wants is another Glanza. She had an awesome 400bhp evo 9 last year that she sold for us to move house last year and she doesn't want another one of them either..... Like I said, she wants another Glanza. Firstly I'd like to say I feel like I owe her one, we both put our cars for sale last year when we wanted to move house. Only hers sold, I managed to keep hold of mine, so for the last year she's been driving a rusty 325 ti bmw where I've still had a nice car, really her budget to be fair is whatever a nice evo 9 should cost, but since what she really wants is a Glanza, then I'm happy to spend the money for the very best one I can get her. What we are looking for.... Tidy rust free car. 98 spec. She likes blueish silver as that's what her last one was but I think all the colours look good and I think the right car would convince her to change. Forged engine. Big turbo. Fairly standard looking. Very tidy engine bay. Freshly imported as possible or not used on salty roads. Would prefer non under sealed but realise people want to keep mint cars mint. Not expecting to get everything on the list and happy to change a few things ourselves. Willing to pay the right price for the right car. Benjaminhodgson@aol.com or 07834 730304

yeah will adjust the boost to just below fuel cut :-( theres a couple of ecus on ebay atm for about 50 quid which seems reasonable any idea what the part number is so i dont get stung with the wrong type? u not got a glanza at the mo mick?

looking at selling my gf's glanza in the near future and probably gonna sell a few of the parts seperately to raise a little bit more cash. it's a facelift glanza v and has a power fc ecu fitted at the moment. it only has standard turbo/mani so no harm really in going for a standard ecu. i know the ep82 ecu has a different harness for power fc so will steer clear of that, but i'm just wondering if all the different year glanza ecu's would be fine? also will there be anything else that i'll need that will have been changed when the power fc was installed? it does have the optional boost control kit but the old hi-lo solenoid setup all still apears to be there so i imagine it will just be a case of re piping this up? any info like part numbers of ecu's that will work on her car greatly apreciated cheers

my girlfriend did most of the paint stripping which probably took about 6 hours total i sanded them with 240, 400, 800, 1500 then autosol'd them, took about 6 hours per wheel masking took about 3 hours per colour a couple of hours spent painting them in total about another 6 hours repolishing the wheels to get the edges neat and take the raised lip off the paint. my girlfriend did the black lettering in about an hour. so 6+24+15+2+6+1= 54 hours total thats just a rough guess really tho cost was sandpaper, free off me mate autosol, already had it masking tape 2 rolls £2 pink, yellow, orange, green, laquer, £4 each, primer £10, blue £12, total cost £42 for paints glad they're done now like, next time should be easier now theyre polished -

we did think about that, but there's another glanza not too far away with pink/silver rims........maybe next time......i can see these wheels having a few more coats of paint over the years.....now that theyre polished we could get them powder coated with clear pink so they look like pink chrome aswell.....too many choices. we did think about doing each wheel a different colour aswell and lots of other combo's -

cheers for the positive comments we dont know what they look like rolling ourselves yet cause were in it when its moving but we'll deffo get a rolling shot sometime soon. if there's anyone in the middlesbrough area who's handy with a camera that is looking for things to take photo's of we could do with a decent pic to enter POTM cause i'm rubbish at taking decent pics and choosing decent locations. -

here's the new polished/multicoloured look........they were getting faded and chipped.....and pink wheels were getting a bit common round here now anyway -
only jokin mate, looks great by the way
-
well i dunno, you paint your wheels pink on your bluish silver glanza cause there's a few about in the area, so you want it to be a bit different......and somebody who lives about a mile away gets pink wheels for their bluish silver glanza....

how much for a rough one? maybe even lightly damaged? as long as its rust free the cheaper the better.

yeah the pics are rubbish, taken on my phone and was getting a bit dark. will get some better ones soon. glad people like it anyway, not that we'd have changed it if nobody else liked it cause we love it -
well my gf's had her glanza over a year now and theres quite a few kicking about the same colour, and her chrome work emotions were starting to flake due to our salty roads over the winter so we decided to do something to make it a bit different to all the other ones we see about. looks a bit orange in the pics but in real life they are eyeball melting flourescent pink. did the rocker cover, positive battery terminal, fire extinguisher, and about to do her baseball bat/steering lock the same colour aswell hope you like

yeah i realised that about the 'kit' not long after posting and just hoped nobody would notice......dunno why i thought it was and i can't even actually remember writing it but have noticed it since then so anything else i'm forgetting when it comes to the T28 conversion? what sort of hp do you think it would be capable of on standard internals, and at what boost level? would i be a LOT better off buying a turbo/manifold combo that is designed and has been proven to work on a starlet. i am more of an oversized turbo, laggy, less heat, boost at higher rpm type of person anyway.....i prefer to wait for my boost as long as what i am waiting for is worth waiting for when it comes if you know what i mean. i don't really know what to do to be honest, i just feel the powerfc is wasted and the other mods without taking full (more) advantage of them....i think i'd like about 220-240 bhp really, maybe a bit more? at the moment it does feel pretty quick(0.9 bar), but once the boost has settled out it just seems to be the same all the way to the redline, i know i'm used to my honda's etc, but even the GtiR used to seem to pull harder at higher revs, or even my old swift gti which is the only other 1.3 i've driven. maybe i should just fit a decat and keep my hands off it.....let my gf enjoy it since it is hers....it's just when we both go out we always seem to take the glanza....and i always end up driving. -

yeah the works are chrome...it's like a dark chrome though, i forget the correct name for the finish. with regards to the T28, obviously it will be a lot laggier on a 1.3 than a 2.0, but i think the roller bearing will help, it used to hit full boost at very low RPM in the sunny, anyway i was thinking of seeing what i can do. i already have the T28, still mounted to a GTiR standard cast manifold which i was thinking i could nick the flange off, buy a cheap Glanza Tubular manifold (seen some on ebay for £160.....haven't reasearched manifolds at all yet though so might end up spending more or less than that after i've done a bit of research) i also have the remains of a HKS downpipe with the flange on for the exhaust side of the turbo which i could easily enough get mated up to the existing exhaust system. I have a walbro 255 fuel pump off my gtir aswell, and some 660 injectors although i have no idea if i could get them to work so i may have to splash out on some injectors (can just keep the boost down until i sorted that out) would obviously need some sort of oil feed for the turbo which shouldn't be too much of a problem since there will already be one for the old turbo. already have FMIC, PFC which helps a lot......i was thinking i could probably do it pretty cheap, and if i spent 700-1k doing it i could get some pretty good results. please let me know what i have forgot about, i can do a lot of the fab work myself, and anything i cant do myself i can get done for free/cheap probably. cheers, Ben -
Aftermarket LSD - Which gearbox oil?
Glanza_Person replied to Glanza_Person's topic in Drivetrain & Transmission
yeah i've heard the royal purple come highly recommended before....it actually is purple aswell whice made me smile for some unknown reason. LSD came with the car so i don't know the manufacturer.....or how it was broken in....but all the manufacturers seem to recommend synthetic 75w-90 which is what i got. i've got a feeling the car might have had a service of some sort by somone who didn't know about the LSD either just before it left japan or as it arrived in the UK, and the gear oil changed for some normal stuff. it looked very clean when we drained it, and it seemed to be getting worse and worse. Anyway, the good thing is the problems have dissapeared, almost feels like an open diff on normal driving now, so i can actually FEEL that the oil is doing its job....feels a lot better than my old FWD GTiR which had a Cusco LSD on Millers fully synthetic which at the time i thought was fine. All in all, the Royal Purple gave me better results than i even hoped for, i cant recommend it enough, probably be able to get it a lot cheaper than £17 per quart (not even a litre as i said earlier) actually only 946ml, so if the figure i was given of 1.9 litres is correct, then you are technically 8ml short, which is about a spoonful, anyway i had a bit overflowing so there is enough in two quart bottles. -

yeah it's a TRD wheel mate, you can take it for 5 billion if you like  Don't really like it that much to be honest, not into the red parts on it, was gonna try to dye the red bits of leather black. i would have changed it for a momo one i have in my garage but since it's my girlfriends car i don't want her to be without the airbag. how much is it worth then? i don't want to go ruining it if it's a rare expensive item by dying it.....nearly already did it at the weekend -
It's my girlfriends mate, as soon as she get's a whiff that people want her miracle cross bar then that will make her want to keep it more i rekon.....i already mentioned removing it to fit some seat belts and you should have seen the look she gave me.....you would have thought i wanted to murder her whole family or something lol
