I think i've changed my mind anyway..I'm going to go for an NA Supra
I've wanted a supra for a long time and I got quite a decent insurance quote...just need to wait until November when this years insurance runs out (as poopie won't insure me on an RX8 so not even going to try with a Supra lol)

I was just about to post saying lukEp is the man to ask lol

Try clearing you cookies/temp internet files etc.
If that fails could try another web browser.
If that fails I'm I dont know what else to suggest (not rubbing it in, but i've been able to send PM's all day so doesn't seem like a site problem)

Glad they got there ok mate

Well good news, I can get insured on and RX7 for quite a reasonable price.
Although, I've kind of fell in love with an RX8 and can get insure on this cheaper (cheaper than my starlet in fact) so i'm going to see it at the weekend.
Anyone know anything about them? things to look out for?
I'm guessing from Rubix_cube a good service history is a definite.
-
Not rival the starlet performance wise??? lol serious??
This is my next possible car if I am feeling stupid lol if not I'll have one in 2 years definitley!!
And they are just as old as Starlets by the way
I meant RX8 I know an RX7 would lol.
I've heard RX8's have to be worked hard to get a good performance?
Ye i know the RX7's are just as old..but I still fancy a change
If you can't get insured on an RX7, don't even look at RX8's or S2000's....You'll hear alot of bullshit on the internet about the Rotary engine. But its exactly that, bullshit. Its retarded owners not knowing how to run the engine. Flooding only occurs when its cold. It tells you in the hand book if your having to start the car move it a short distance and its not up to temp floor the throttle as you turn the engine off.
The engines are fantastic, but like any other engine, if its badly treated, it'll blow. The issue you have if they blow is they are a niche market and building are not that common. However, there are 3 or 4 big names now in the UK to build you an engine.
A stock Rx-7 in the right hands will pump a mildly tuned (circa 200hp) Starlet to death on a track. The Type R's are 280hp and handle like a big MX-5. They are amazing to drive and the interior is more like a cockpit, like the supra it swoops round the driver. I want one after the S13. They are fantastic, but remember moving up from a young boy's car to a true performance coupe isn't going to be cheap. More fuel, more expensive servicing, more expensive parts etc...Also modding them is very strict. If you change any of the exhaust or intake (even a filter) you really need to dyno it to ensure the fuelling isnt knocked out. They are very sensitive in this sense. However, fitting a PFC and getting it tweeked isn't going to cause major issues. And with a decat, boost up and stuff 380hp isnt impossible.
Point I'm really making is, think about it more. Ignore random BS posts about them "Flooding all the time", "Eating oil" and of course the classic "60,000 miles rebuild"....
I spoke about the flooding above, the oil thing is part of its design, it weeps oil into the combustion chambers to lubricate the rotor tips, and the 60k rebuild is un-founded. Some do, some don't. Again it comes down to servicing. The older engines have a lesser design rotor tip set up, which was resolved in the Renisis RX8 engine, thats why most rx7 rebuilds these days are done with RX8 tips.
Thanks for the info mate, seem to know your stuff very well on this subject

Hi Guys,
As some of you may have seen/heard I'm selling all my aftermarket parts then selling my starlet.
Big decision as I've really enjoyed the car for 3 years now.
I want an RX7 but I don't think I'll get insure on one just yet being only 21.
I'm looking at maybe an RX8/MX5/S2000 (obviously cost and insurance depending).
Anyone else got any suggestions?
Not entirely sure on how much I'll have to spend just yet though
-
So do you lol

I have the pipe which comes straight off the turbo of a hdi kit.
It's been cut at the bottom to suit another kit (not sure if its toyosports, if not it can always be coupled together with some silicone pipe)
PM me if your interested and i'll get you a pic.

what wheels arethey?
They are only ripspeeds. They are a copy of a Jap wheel and quite light to be honest.
Only got them as I needed a set of wheels and tyres there and then and never chained them lol.

PROJECT ENDED, going back to standard then selling.
