  1. its really easy, but just to let you know i dont think my bros alpine type e's came with any templates!! so be carefull....!

    Rob

it's ok I've taken them out of a Clio parcel shelf that my aunt gave me so I can just trace the holes in that for an exact fit!

  2. I've replaced the original front speakers with a pair of vibe slick 40's (10cm). But i think something's wrong (either that or they're just shit).

    - There's no punchyness at all (was more on the originals!)

    - I need to turn up the head unit much high to get the same level of volume

    - There is crackling in the bass

Is this down to my wiring? Basically I've crimped the new speaker cable that came with the speakers on to the old wire just before the loom into the adapter that plugs into the head unit as i didnt want to chop off the whole loom. That said, i used the complete original wire first and the sound had the same problems.

Could the lack of punch be something to do with the fact there are only two mounting screws essentially meaning the speaker has room to wobble about?

I'm not really hearing any advantage of these 50w RMS speakers over the original 10w rubbish. Surely that's not right

  3. reason i asked if it was a FP or if it was in court is because a fixed penalty is exacly what it says fixed at that fine, that No. of points to which you sign to agree to!

if you need you licence for work, you best bet is to request a court hearing (by filling in the back of the ticket or contacting the camera people/central ticket office) because you can then state you mitigating circumstances to a magistrates who has the power (if he/she see's fit) to award less(or more) points/fine meaning you can keep on causing trouble on the road! lol

Cheers Ryno. It was FP. I haven't actually got the letter yet I;m just assuming I'm screwed.... Anyone got flashed by a red light camera and got away with it??

  4. Happened to my mate

Had to get his provisional again do his theory again take a few driving lessons (get rid of the habits) and then the driving test again

Took him just over a month i think :p

So do you HAVE to have lessons? i was hoping not to bother with that and just go straight for the test!

  5. So I've just managed to notch up 6 points in my first two years...

Apparently you have to get a provisional licence again and take your theory and practical test again.

Has anyone had this happen to them? How long did it take to get back on the road again?

Basically, if it's more than a couple of months I'm gonna get sacked :p

  6. yeah should only take about 2 hours for the springs. the tyres should take upto an hour,if there low profile. Tell him to ram it. Where you based? :)

South West London....not the cheapest of areas. All the quotes I'm getting are around that or much more!

  7. Okay cheers for the advice guys! As I've probably said, any mechanical stuff is way beyond me, even changing wheels!!

So far lowest I've been quoted is £235 cash. The guy says its gonna take 6-8 hours to do the springs and change tyres / fit new wheels. Is this right? Sounds like alot of hours compared wht you lot have been sayin!

  8. Ok, so I've got some new 15" wheels (just about!), and some lowering springs (25-30mm drop). Fitting either of these is well beyond me. What price should I expect to pay to get them fitted? (in London!) and can anyone recommend a good place to get it done?

  9. RSR springs are 25mm mate.

They would prob be harder than the ol tte springs but I reckon would still suit your standard shocks as the tte ones were 25mm too.

I cant get the link as its on tgtt and it wont load up for me.

I did however post a link up to someone else who asked about them, buit I cant find that either.

    Peace Out

    J ;) z

Cheers Joz! I saw the link.... was hoping to find some a bit cheaper than that! They look nice though... don't think I want s/hand springs... never know where they've been! <_<

  10. I'm considering upgrading my 4 spoke 13" Momo alloys that came with my 98 Starlet S, to some 15" alloys.

The 15" ones I'm looking at are et 45. I've been reading that the Starlet offset is normally 35-38??

Will et 45 with 195/50/15 tyres fit safely and without hassle??

Reading the other threads, some people reckon anything apart from the recommended offset would be a disaster and others say it works fine... I just want to make sure before i purchase!!

    Thanks.ant
