    Clutch

If you get in under the dash and look towards the top of the pedal arm, you should see a bolt that acts as a stopper for the pedal arm. Loosening/tightening this will adjust where the bite is. Hope this helps
  2. Thank you very much for your advice Bourkey! A few people have suggested that to me, so I'll have a look tonight. Does anyone have any further suggestions?
  3. Hi guys and girls, Basically, I'm trying to diagnose the issue I'm having before I take it to a mechanic. I want to know what could possibly be wrong so that I can work out how much it's going to cost to fix it. Here's the deal: I was having issues a while back where at one stage the car was getting stuck in a particular gear and not wanting to come back out. It even got stuck one day at the lights and took me forever to put it back in gear. I changed the clutch fluid and this appeared to help things slightly for a little while. Then, about 2 months ago, it decided to pretty much die on me.
  4. In which case, you would use a heat gun to get the film to fit the contour of the bonnet. You then get a small tin of fibreglass resin and paint it over the top with a dense foam roller for a bit of protection. Then just get really fine sandpaper and sand it back to a smooth finish and polish it up. VOILA!
  5. I was thinking the exact same thing I just thought I'd suggest the other options first though, as i don't know how bad the roads are over there.
  6. I've had a go at most of these things and now it's running a lot better. It's not perfect, but it's just a case of adjusting the timing. There was a PCV issue and i've now replaced it.
  7. The best thing to do in your case would be to just get some new (possibly uprated) shocks and some lower springs. That would be the first step.. Then you could always go on and add: - Front Strutbrace (stops chassis flexing and makes the car feel a little more solid + flatter around corners) - Rear Strutbrace (similar effect) - Urethane bushes (no doubt the rubber ones would have worn out by now) and so on... There's always the option of coilovers but I think you're going to find that they're a little too solid for "shitty scottish roads" lol
  8. Thank you all so much for your quick responses!! I'll try all of your suggestions when I get home from work today
  9. Hi all, Just bought myself an EP91 Starlet with a 4E-FTE conversion. It was quite poorly maintained but I've been going through and replacing everything that I can. One thing that it had started doing just before I'd bought it is this HORRIBLE idle, where it sits there frequently revving up and down, between 800 and 1500 RPM. I'm trying to get to the bottom of this so that I can drive my new toy. Cheers
  10. As long as you have the right info, tools and parts beforehand...it's pretty straightforward!
  11. There's a first time for everything. I learnt through trial and error.
  12. Hi guys and gals, My name is Lukas and it appears that I may soon become the owner of a white EP91 turbo Starlet. I'm just waiting on the completion of the roadworthy certificate before I purchase the car. It needs a bit of tlc, but I've previously swapped one of the 4E-FTE's into a Daihatsu Charade, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue for me to get it back to its former glory. L
