  1. Need help guys. Don't seem to have any vacuum. Just reads zero on the gauge. Haven't tried boosting it. Hotpipe on turbo isn't getting hot either. Any ideas? Could it be a vac leak (no whistling noises though) or a sensor?

This issue is not always apparent. Sometimes OK, other times not.

  2. Did a quick search, but couldn't find anything on this. Are ARP head bolts different size tool than stock? Are there any markings to determine if they are indeed genuine?

Anyone ever reused a stock set of bolts? I believe they're torque to yield, so have to be replaced?

  3. Looking for recommendations for replacement stem seals, or are Toyota ones still the best? Prices vary massively online, from £15 a set to £60 (Toyota)! I know you get what you pay for, but on the other hand, OEM prices are massively inflated.

  4. Been in contact with ARP today. Unlike stock head bolts, theirs are not torque to yield, so do not stretch. Therefore, provided you use the ultra-torque lubricant, they are just tightened in 3 stages up to 60ft lbs (approx. 81Nm).

  5. Is it possiblet o re-use ARP head bolts? Their website suggests you can, provided they were torqued up correctly when installed. But does anyone have any direct experience with re-using them?

  6. Anyone know what the difference is between a 5efhe and 4efte pcv valve? Toyodiy has the 5efhe number as 12204-10030 and is used on several engines, mainly 5e. The 4efte has a number of 12204-10040 and, although it states starlet turbo, it also states paseo and tercel engines! I'm confused. Can either used in either engine as I know they'll fit?

  7. I truly did not want to write this as I still want to believe Matt is an innocent, trusting person like myself. I bought the newly built 600 mile forged engine off him a few months back that he was selling for a friend. The engine was out of the car and looked ok on inspection. Another buyer previous to me had asked if the head could be removed as there was no proof it was forged due to there being no receipts. However, Matt was unwilling to do this, and I can understand that. I could see that it was forged and after a long chat decided to trust him and buy the engine. Due to time constraints I only recently finished installing it. However, first 30 secs it was obvious things weren't right. Looks like the head gasket has gone.

I contacted him and he did reply asking what I wanted to do and he would sort something. That was a month ago. I've heard nothing since even though I've text him several times. I haven't been aggressive, I still believe he didn't know, but clearly his mate did, but didn't tell him. He isn't on here so I can only write this about the member it was bought from. £1200 for a dead engine. And I suspect the head might be either warped or cracked, as it's a steel headgasket, so I imagine it's pretty hard to break them.

All feedback on him was positive and he definitely seemed genuine. But no response doesn't bode well with me.

  8. What's the oil pressure when the minimum oil light comes on? I'm getting an oil pressure gauge and want to set it to slightly above what the minimum would be to prevent it ever getting too low.

  9. So what mileage has it done in total? And what power were you running? Bummer that you didn't do the compressionttest, was really important. I'm not questioning your honesty or anything, just can't afford to put another smoky engine in my car. Any movement on price? Cheers fella.

  10. What mileage is on this engine since the last rebuild pal? Was the head rebuilt at anytime or just ported? is 130psi correct for a forge build? What's included on the engine exactly? And is there any movement on price?

And can I ask reason for sale?

    Cheers
