  1. Welcome to the sale of my 1996 Toyota Starlet White 1.3 Sportif (3 Door, No Assisted Steering)

    IMG_0483.jpg

I have owned the starlet for two years now and it is sadly time to sell, currently I am studying in London and it's not worth paying the insurance just for when I come home.

    - The car has only done 54,000 miles.

    - It has had two owners, one being me.

    - Has a full service history, up until two years ago, when I bought it and serviced it myself.

    - At the moment there is no tax on the car and has been declared off the road for the past few weeks.

    - MOT is at the beginning of September.

During the two years, it has been great, I have honestly not had a single problem, apart from when it failed the MOT in September 2011 due to a leaking shock absorber, a new one was fitted and it passed. A new battery has very recently been fitted, due to the old one being a bit weak in the past.

The body work is okay, at the end of the day, it is 17 year old car and there are obviously dents and scratches in places, but the paintwork is good with no rust. A year ago, I did unfortunately catch the side of the car on my gate post, this caused damage to the passenger's back wing. I knocked it out and filled it myself, the job is good, you wouldn't notice upon first glance but if you look carefully you will, mostly where the bump strip should be.

When I bought the car it came with 15" fox alloy's, I kept them on as i thought they look quite good, however one of the back alloys is buckled. All four tyres have good tread, front two are Yokohama S-Drives, not sure about the rear.

The only modifications I have done are:

    Take off the bump strips.

Replace amber indicator lenses with clear ones.

Put on a TTE spoiler on the back.

These are only small things, but all have a massive improvement on the look of the car.

The interior is okay, when i bought the car it had a cigarette burn on the drivers seat and one on rear seat, not sure if the car was regularly smoked in prior to me buying it but I am a non-smoker and it has been smoke free for the two years now. I removed the original radio and put in a sony bluetooth headunit, replaced the front speakers and added speakers to the parcel shelf. The headunit really suits the car and the parcel shelf speakers are very subtle.

The car is fantastic and has been a pleasure to own. It is a perfect first car, very nippy and extremely fun to drive.

I have been very honest and want a good deal for me and the buyer, I have said £700 but willing to offers and would appreciate anyones opinion on what the car is worth. I am in London for the next three weeks and won't be able to sell until I am home, putting it on here early to see if anybody is interested. Viewing is more than welcome, but again, not until I am back in Blackpool in three weeks time.

Price: £700 but welcome to offers.

  2. its all over now .. was doing 48 in the 30 .. got 3 points and £60 fine .. really relieved it wasnt taken any further, but it has definetely opened my eyes to speeding, dont want all that worry again.

  3. i think i got caught speeding today ..

it was by a mobile camera, i think i was doing like 50 in the 30, sounds bad, but it was on a road that turns into a 60 so ...

    just want to know ..

what distance do the mobile speed cameras work at?

do speeding tickets come in a blank envelope, if so im not telling my parents haha

are there any additional consequences for doing alot over the speed limit?

im only 17 and this is my first affence .. what do you think will happen?

soo annoyedd, just want to hit things hahaha

  4. hey, i dont know much about cars ..

could someone explain what changing the manifold does?

also when people talk about a corolla manifold, are they talking about one of a toyota corrolla hahaha bit stupid but ..

if so which year is it, and is it a straight undo and fit?

you will all say no haha .. but should i tell the insurance about it or not?

is there anything else i can do cheaply to increase performance?

    thanks jamess :lol::)

  5. cheers for the reply

ahh i dont want all the problems and a bad ride .. but its gotta be done! cant afford coilovers tho .. haha

do you know anything about sound proofing .. bet it rattles like a bitch? haha

  6. The space under the arch is normal, looks a bit odd at first but you'll get used to it B)

My car is lowered 40mm on PI springs, you don't have to change the shocks unless they start leaking really. You'll have to get accustomed to a harsh ride though :)

You can use a hairdryer to heat up the glue and remove the front badge, but there are two small holes just so you know! I think the rear Toyota badge doesn't have any holes underneath though

I wouldn't be able to tell you about lock barrels as I haven't got a clue lol..If you do find out though please let me know as I'm going to need to swap my bootlock over to my new tailgate!

    Hope that helps

    Amjad

yea it looks weird, thought something was missing haha

do you have any trouble with it being lowered 40mm like the tryes on the archs or scrapping on things, think i might only do 35mm .. is it lowered alot on 40mm do you think 35mm would look good? ahh is it bad the ride, like really bad? haha

i really want to take it off, but that sound like alot of hassle..

    yeaa will do mate..

    thanks james

  7. right .. ive got a few questions, i've got a n/a starlet sportif

there's a space in the rear arch, so you can like see the backbox and everything .. just wondering is that normal or is something missing, would mudflaps cover it?

when i lower the car, gonna get some 35-40mm lowering springs, will i have to change the shocks or do anything else?

are there any holes underneath the badge on the bonnet .. how do i remove it?

is it hard to change the lock barrels? does anyone have any advice?

    thanks in advance

    james
