  1. OK so atleast you no its the sprak that is the issue, trust me when i say this blueprint and toyota own distributor caps are not the same quality, the contacts on the blueprint ones are very poor and dont last, so make sure you fit a toyota own dude and it will last for 4x as long as a blueprint item

  2. String, over long periods of spirited driving your screamer pipe is goin to get mighty hot having it sat right next to the air intake to the blower is goin to give you some high intake temps with it sucking in super hot air, a good helping of heat wrap with solve this

  3. spark nos he stuff

daz its all really deppendant on were it driven really main roads bypasses motorways etc your be fine but no country dust lanes etc georgi has ran hers like that for near on a year have checked the turbo inlet for grim dust nothing, checked the intake pipework for any sighns of debree also nothing :p

  4. read over what you have just written string you will realise your error

hounestly dude do you really thing the like of a kn filter is goin to be more free flowing than one layer of mesh??

Think about it a kn type filter usses multi layers of mesh metal then cotton type then metal then foam type then metal etc etc all compacted, then you attach that to a pipe that is 9/10 of a 90deg angle right net to the compressor inlet, you really think this is goin to be less restictive than laying one fine layer of mesh directly over the conpressor inlet?? tust me dude it not. whats more free flowing on a turbo outlet an exhaust or no exhaust think about it dude.

Also you dont find many stoned or pebbles on drag strips the mesh is purley there for dust etc

  5. mesh will alow much more flow than any aftermarket filter on the market buddy, hence why they use them on extream hp drag motors

as said mesh it, had the same issue with my misses georgie on here , meshed hers and it a road car granted she dosnt go down dusty lanes etc just bypasses etc but it will be fine

  6. good work spark top fucking job one of the only starlet builds that is setting the bench mark, looking foward to seeing your jdm bits after xmas ( and no im not talking about your cock lol) as said giv me a buzz when you come to get brides irl pop over and sort you out some custom bride bits for your interior

  7. I'm still sapprised everyone is still goin for td series turbo's as there 20year old technology and imo they don't last long when hp is increased aswell as boost etx before shitting there seals out everywere, there are a lot of other brands out there with upto date tech blowers that can spool up a lot quicker and hold boost at high rpm and take shit loads of boost and still last, has anyone on the forum gone for any of the small garret gt spec blowers as I would think they would be a much better way to go on the starlets, some may say there much more cash then the. Td blowers but if you way up the costs time and hasstle of replacing the td blowers when they go wrong compared to the benefits you get from the precision engineered garret or tt tn items they will come out on top by far maybe think about going down that route dude

  8. Carbon build up is black puffs of smoke usualy, blue smoke is oil, white is coolant.

quick nick sounds like a good service i would go down that route if were you but to no for sure i would use a standard turbo just to make sure, as turbo comanys will tell you anythink to get the work if you no what i mean. good luck with it dude and post up your findings

  9. So when you had this problem with smoke on overrun but not on idle was it the seals? Any advice woudl be great, especially if it was the seals and you had the turbo reconditioned, would be interested to hear what you did in more detail.

bang on the money did just that, this was on a 3S-GTE CT26 but still has relevance as a turbo is a turbo regardless of size, i rearlised one day it smoke on over run and thort here we go rings are going but compresion test said other wise, i didnt have the turbo reconned i part exed it with turbotechnics for one of the hybrids (dont buy there turbochargers! thats a hole other story look at my build thread for info on that) but when i discussed it with the engineer up there he dercibed how sometimes the seal can some times rupture only slightly enough to cause the issue, to be hounest dude id pop it off and try a helpfull friends turbo just to check, dosnt take long to pop them on and off the starlets, you wana try working on the mr2 with them stuffed right down the back there harder to work on than a porche haha, i normaly drop the lump out to do most things lol

  10. Just to quickly jump in on the thread

I replaced the standard ct9 on the ex's glanza for a ct9 hybrid from tong, all went well with fitting and a good quick service from enzo Everythink was fitted correctly and primed, took the car out for a drive and everytime we got anywere near 4grand rpm it would hold back, i tried everything to figure out the problem and am still unsure if it was 100% a turbo fault but had to come to the conclusion there was an imbalace on the core causing turbulance.

Im i think i am rite in saying i am the only person to suffer this problem, but have to say enzo gave georgie a brilliant service and cant rate you enough for it dude, we emailed him regarding the problem strait away, i exsplained the fault i thort there was and exsplained i had been working on my car so much her new tong sat on the side for so long it just went past its warrenty, but enzo still said he will sort the problem out (even while he was on holiday!) he sent her a new ct9 hybrid spec 2, before i she had even sent hers back, i took the ct9 hybrid off popped on the new one she went like steam! i am seriously impressed with the turbo it self an in enzos service, and would advise the op to double check its not the seals as i have had turbos smoke while on over run but not idle as you have dersribed.
