Got some coilovers way back in October.
They are a Japanese brand called ACRE. They have 10kg front springs and 8kg rear

Got them installed by a mates tyre place where i also got the guards rolled and a wheel alignment











Was a little fun trying to get it to align properly. Finally got it to ~2mm toe in front and rear, 5º caster, -1.5º camber on the front and -2º on the rear.
Its running as little camber as the adjustment would allow at this ride height which im pretty happy with (~90-95mm to chassis rails)

Got a hardtop spoiler from Carbon Miata in real carbon fibre

Also just the other week i got a new torsen lsd out of an 1800cc NA mx5.
It was an absolute prick of a thing to swap but it was well worth the effort

Plans now are to get some smaller tyres, lower it more, get a roll bar then start saving for a supercharger

Front lip arrived yesterday from ebay, only took 15mins to fit

Car looks a bit lower now so ill be happy with it till i can afford some proper coilovers.

Its a R Package front lip, got it for $180 inc shipping from ebay as i couldnt find anything i liked over here.

Cool! 1 more thing to add to my shopping list. Will have to get coilovers next, mines still rather high.

Wow, wish i could get mine that low. Problem with having a gravel driveway is its not very low car friendly.

Was about to hit buy now on the coilovers when i checked a local mx5 parts place called mx5mart. The first listing caught my eye and i called the guy up straight away and said i'll buy it.

It was a version 2 hardtop with heated window, insulated roof and it was red! Cost a little more than i had so parents have shouted me the difference as an early birthday present.

Picked it up for $1300 (~660 GBP) which is understandable since its winter and everyone wants them.

The extra weight of it has lowered the rear of the car slightly so im happy with the height for now (till i can afford some coilovers)

Took the car to the guy who sold me the springs today and we worked out why they dropped the car so little.

We think that the factory springs had already sagged 20mm or so from factory height causing there to be little difference after installing the teins as they were rated at 40mm from factory height

Will be ordering some coilovers off ebay tomorrow once my pays come through

Bought some tein lowering springs which were rated at a 40-45mm drop.

Took around 8 hours to install them as it was my first time doing suspension on the car and i only had manual spring compressors

For some reason it didnt lower the car by much. Going off the before and after measurements it only lowered it by 15-20mm so im a little disappointed by it.

Am probably going to get a refund on the springs and put the money towards some coilovers that ryan mentioned above.

I will definitely consider those ones for the future, as the price of them + certification is only just more than a set of springs.

So if i read correctly all i need to do is attach my tophats to the mk1 coilovers and im away happy?

Wanting to keep away from coilovers for a while as they require certification over here. Which is basically a plate which lists modifications and says my cars safe with them and if anything is changed it requires re-certification.

Would i just be able to use my current top mounts if i got one of those kits?

And the spending begins ....

Got a paddle clutch made up as i wanted to future-proof it for any mods i can possible afford in the near future

Got some 205/50-15's fitted to my 15x8's

And took it drifting (sorta)

Next step is a set of lowering springs which it majorly needs

Im guessing by the pics that your in my situation and cant fit in it with a helmet on and the roof up

urmm they are around £350 for a decent one

£200 for a tatty one i expect. need one desperately because my roof is developing more and more leaks lol

need some new rear tyres for obvious reasons haha

Hmm not too bad. People ask stupid money for the hard tops over here. $800nzd(£400ish) for a tatty one and upwards of $1200(£600) for a good condition one

Best get one soon as soft tops arent much fun to replace. Mine had a big hole in it when i got it so had to put in a new one.

Mine also needs tyres as the almost plastic 185/??-r14's dont like wet weather

Picked up my new car today. So much fun to drive especially in the wet.

Its a 1990 Mazda MX5 NA6C 5spd manual.

Only done 163,000k's and i got it for $2700nzd (1360gbp)

Needs a little bit of work done to it, mainly the roof needs replacing (came with a brand new one, just needs to be installed) and the clutch will need changing at

Only if the manufacturer of the tyres allows it. Tyre shops can fit any tyre to any rim but it doesnt necessarily mean its legal.

195/50-15 would only be allowed through if you have a manufacturers tyre chart which states that they are safe on a 8" wide rim.

The allowed rim widths lvvta have on 195/50's is between 5.5" and 7.0" so a manufacturers chart is required for anything outside of that.

Lol $800nzd is around 400gbp, shipping would probably cost that to even get them over there

I was running 195/45 tyres on them. Lvvta bounced my submission back saying it had too much stretch.

Was unfortunate that my cert wasn't done in time otherwise I would have gone. Had the same wheels as you at that point (cert man told me to take them off )
